Denim 'n' Dine - Pop-Up Dining Event Review

Let’s face it; pop-up dining in London is at an all-time high. There are secluded supper clubs, immersive experiences and gastronomical wonderlands cropping up here, there and everywhere, across the entire city. So with that in mind, it takes...

This was my second time to Denim N' Dine so I was really looking forward to it. However it was vastly different this time round. We were left standing at the door bell area for ages. We could see people at the end by the kitchen so I eventually shouted down and asked if we could come through and was told "yes of course, we were wondering why you were standing there" - well because we hadn't been met/welcomed and shown to our table...... There were a LOT more guests this time which meant that everyone felt crammed in and if you were at the end you had serving staff squeezing round the back of the chair. Last time I am sure that we had clean cutlery for every meal but not this time, the same knife and fork for 5 courses, presumably because there were more guests? And last time we had delicious bread and butter on the table, not this time. I asked and was told gruffly that there had been a problem with the bread. We got home and had some toast as we were still hungry. All in all a completely different experience from last time and not it a good way. Maybe people were just having a bad day but this should not be taken out on dinner guests. I'd be very hesitant to book again or recommend, Visited Blackhorse Lane Atelier on 2017-11-04

Great idea. A little intimidating at the start, sat in the middle of 2 parties on a long table. But it worked out brilliantly, chatted to our neighbors and was a nice to speak to new people. Food was of the best quality, obviously loads of time and effort had gone in to the presentation. It was delicious. Despite Six courses, the portions we’re on the small side. Great to see the food getting prepared in the kitchen. Small team, and all really nice, came out to explain the food. Good for a different night out, would be better as a group. The atmosphere was amazing - not just the really cool location, but the 'open' policy of the chef and team - you're invited to go into the kitchen and see what's going on, so you feel part of it. Food was exciting, and a nice crowd of people! Visited Blackhorse Lane Atelier on 2016-11-26

Fantastic atmosphere. Phenomenal food. Wonderful chef's. By far the best dining experience I've ever had. I especially liked the BYOB aspect. It means you can bring a great bottle of wine, and don't get charged a stupidly inflated price.

What a fantastic idea. I happened on this whilst doing a leather course in the same building. Pedro was incredible and the food was outstanding. We are going back again with friends soon. Visited Blackhorse Lane Atelier on 2016-05-13

Our family of seven were at Denim'n'Dine on June 17 and it surpassed our (high) expectations. A friendly welcome with a coupe of champagne was followed by several courses of beautiful, clever and, above all, delicious food, each dish introduced by Pedro or one of the chefs. Compliments to the whole team. We had a wonderful, convivial evening and can't wait to do it again. Visited Blackhorse Lane Atelier on 2016-06-17

We thought that this was something a bit special. When eating out we want to remember the event and as we were eating in the only denim factory in London this did not disappoint in any way. Pedro's food was wonderful and both thought and discussion provoking. We shared the table with great company and would highly recommend the whole experience. My husband and I were disappointed by the food. The dishes were interesting but lacked flavour; they were missing a 'wow' factor, as well as seasoning in a number of them. There wasn't a great deal of food, either, so it didn't seem like good value for money. It was nice to meet other people from Walthamstow and, though weird at first, it turned out to be an enjoyable evening. Didn't see the BYO either, so had to pop to the garage. Service was great and everyone was really friendly. Overall, a fine night and something different to do, but I wouldn't go again or recommend it. Visited Blackhorse Lane Atelier on 2016-05-27

The food was delicious! Didn't see 'BYO' memo therefore the local shop's best, tarnished our experience. Pedro wasn't there which was disappointing (event elsewhere). However his chefs did him proud! Visited Blackhorse Lane Atelier on 2016-05-26

Great Evening with good food and company. There were a few surprises in the dishes with lots of techniques involved. I would definitely not spend 22 hours making a carrot dish, but it was wonderful. Visited Blackhorse Lane Atelier on 2016-05-06

If you like your food to surprise you and inspire a conversation, this is the event for you. After a great first Denim n' Dine experience, I returned to try the new menu and was equally thrilled with the new dishes. The venue is a cosy creative space, chef and his team and knowledgeable about the dishes and are happy to explain the menu. My personal highlights include crab n' bubbles and peanut ice-cream with yoghurt and almond couscous. Heard a new menu underway for May! Looking forward.

Have read so much about Denim and Dine that I couldn't wait to go myself. We booked as a larger group (7) and we all absolutely loved it and vowed to come back. The food is beautifully presented and appeals to all senses. Each dish is explained by the very talented Pedro and the setting, front of house and everything is just perfect. Wonderful night out. The Denim factory was an amazing frame for an artistic and delicious meal delivered by Pedro and Robert. Every dish was beautifully presented with a mix of familiar flavours paired with some more unusual ones (goat curd with white chocolate and mackerel anyone?). Thoroughly enjoyed and a place to come back Visited Blackhorse Lane Atelier on 2016-04-07

The whole evening was an artistic experience - the venue plays host to a community of artists, denim makers, leather goods creators, and most importantly for us diners, it's also the home to this fabulous new chef in town, Pedro, who leaves no detail untouched. A 6-course meal at top quality. Each dish is beautifully crafted to play on flavours, colours, textures and served on fantastically customised tableware. The yoghurt taco impresses, the fermented butter with dehydrated chlorophyll accompanied by potato breads, coconut and white chocolate custard...to name a few. Go with an open mind, and enjoy the surprises. This will be my next regular spot, can't wait to the try new menu! The fabulous chef is also a friendly host who brims with passion for food creations and happily shares his secrets :).

Wonderful evening. Fantastic, delicious food. Really creative flavour and texture combinations. Things that really make you think and discuss. The space we were in was also wonderful, both a real down-to-earth factory and a high-quality eating area. The chef and staff were wonderful hosts, making everyone feel welcome at the outset and then continuing the conversation throughout the night. I would highly recommend to everyone!

Such a fantastic evening! The dining area is gorgeous with so much attention to detail and great views both into the kitchen and the denim workshop. The food was unbelievably delicious - all of it. There were lots of really genius and surprising flavour combinations which gave the evening a really exciting atmosphere and really got us talking. Pedro was also excellent host, taking care of his guests and explaining the components of all the dishes. We absolutely loved it.
