Vilem Flusser (Gestures, 2014), defines GESTURE as “a movement of the body or a tool attached to the body for which there is no satisfactory causal explanation. ” His diverse study analyzes gesture as a statement of consciousness; from modest movement within the world, to more determined gestures of personal expression.

This performance based event presents a diverse range of gestures, seen through the work of five artists that include:Tony Hill (Tate Modern, Oberhausen Film Festival) Claire Hope (Wysing Art Centre, Mains d' Oveuvres Arts Centre, Paris), collaboration from Rob Mullender (Camden Arts Centre, MEANTIME) and composer John Lely (Ryoguko Monten Hall Japan, Cafe OTO) , and Heather Ross (GRAD Gallery, Royal Scottish Academy RSA ). This event moves around the topic from various angles encompassing: the gesture of shadow play; the gesture of collaboration; the gesture of speaking; the gesture of singing.

The backdrop of the historic and wonderfully unique Brunel Museum Tunnel, just off the banks of the River Thames, sets the stage for a one-night event not to be missed. Additionally, the Cocktail Gardner, Lottie Muir of the new book, "Wild Cocktails," will be designing specialty drinks to be offered in the Midnight Apothecary Roof Garden above The Shaft.
