This Open House Festival, Ladbroke Hall is opening its doors, inviting visitors to discover the history, architecture and creative energy of one of Notting Hill’s most distinctive cultural spaces.
Built in 1903 as the Clément-Talbot car factory, Ladbroke Hall has evolved from pioneering automobile works to a television studio and, today, a vibrant home for art, design and culture.
Inside the Carpenters Workshop Gallery, visitors can explore three exhibitions: Taamr by Mumbai-based designer and artist Ashiesh Shah; Small Car, Big Windows by French artists and designers Martin Laforêt and Léa Mestres; and The Language of Glaze: Shimizu Uichi at 100, celebrating the centenary of the influential Japanese ceramicist.
In our studio space, Charlotte Mensah: Community Matters is a major mixed-media exhibition celebrating the life, work and legacy of award-winning hairstylist, entrepreneur and cultural pioneer Charlotte Mensah, marking 40 years since she entered the field of hairdressing.
The exhibition traces Charlotte’s journey from her childhood in Ghana and formative years in North WestLondon to her position as one of Britain’s most influential figures in hair and beauty.
Visitors are invited to wander throughout the building and beyond, discovering its architectural details and hidden corners, before stepping into the garden to see the Prouvé House and explore the garden itself, designed by a Chelsea Flower Show-winning designer Luciano Giubbilei.
Come for the architecture, stay for the art, design, history and garden.
