Beer and cider aficionados can look forward to sampling over 600 different beers and ciders next month as the UK’s favourite beer festival, CBR London 2016, takes over The Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane.

The Beer

his year see’s our largest and most diverse mix so far. From established UK breweries such as Beavertown, Thornbridge, and Harviestoun, to international talent from Little Bichos, Lagunitas, Mikkheller, and Bronx Brewery to independent family brewer’s Elgoods and Adnams via relative newcomers including Bad Seed and Mondo, CBR is now recognised as the launch pad event in the UK’s beer calendar for new and exciting brews. It is the place for beer fans to discover the brewing world’s latest product launches, new recipes and innovations and the rare chance to meet the faces behind the brands.

The Music

In keeping with bringing the best music to CBR London, we are proud to announce that James Lavelle (responsible for the genre defining Mo Wax record label and UNKLE project) and Rob da Bank (THE man behind 'Bestival' and Sunday Best Records) will be our Friday and Saturday night headliners respectively.

It’s a strength in depth line up though, that also includes Coldcut’s Jon Moore, Portishead sample digger Andy Smith and Boca 45 bringing their 45 Live show to London for the first time. The DJ’s DJ Ross Allen, BBC6 Music’s Don Letts, music journo Pete Paphides and acoustic guitar talent of the Showhawk Duo also feature, with the ‘Lost In Cyder Space’ zone being curated by The Vintage Mobile Disco AKA Donna Somerset.  Put simply, great music to drink great beer and cider by.

  • Our 4th year is set to be bigger and better than ever. We have doubled previous capacity and expect 120 breweries to take part.
  • We are also introducing 'Lost in Cider Space' in its own dedicated area.
  • Expect, more beer, more music, more food than ever before.
  • We will also have a new entrance (still on brick lane), No more tokens (bars will all take cash), you still get glass and programme / magazine with your ticket.

Excellent night. The beer selection was really comprehensive and the food great. I loved the concert too. I've spent an excellent moment with my friend. I'll be there next year! Nicolas visited The Old Truman Brewery on 07 Nov 2015

This was the 4th time I've been, favourite night of the yeat without a doubt. There is so much choice and so many unusual and quirky beers to try and the breweries are more than happy to chat and give away free samples. Can't wait for next year! Wish they could be more often. Fantastic day very friendly bar staff on almost if not every stall with very keen and informative brewers will defo go again next year great venu, programme could have been a bit more helpful as was looking for one very small batch Brewer and had no information. In programme at all and took almost a hour trying to find it and once me and friends did the beer was sadly all gone Leigh visited The Old Truman Brewery on 22 Feb 2016

The event was really good, lots of choice as you would expect but also for the non beer drinkers. I look forward to this festival the most each year as the crowd seems that bit more friendly. only 1 complaint and that was we had tickets until 00:30, which were taken off us on entry and then we were kicked out at 17:30. no chance to get back in. Top night, excellent beer, great selection available, good crowd, tasty food, clean toilets, friendly staff, wish I could have stayed longer. £22 a bit steep given we also had to pay for every drink. Sophie visited The Old Truman Brewery on 03 Feb 2016

Great night out, although I think £20 + £2 booking fee was a lot to pay. I can't drink too much beer but enjoyed the Auchentoshan whisky cocktails (with a free tin mug). Food was ok as needed to eat! Could be better. Music was fantastic and made the whole experience worthwhile. We went as a group, but the crowd was friendly and up for fun. Geraldine visited The Old Truman Brewery on 06 Feb 2016

Really enjoyed it and thought the layout was better than last year. Unfortunately the water pressure in the toilets was very poor so it was unhygienic. The central beer aisle was too narrow. The cider was a good idea, but that room was too loud. The music on Saturday night detracted from the beer and attracted people who weren't actually interested in good beer. More beer varieties next time please, not all IPA! Plus, for the entry fee, surely all breweries should have cups for tastings? Saying all this, I really enjoyed it and the brewers were all friendly and chatty. Oh, fewer non-craft mega breweries next year please! Ellie visited The Old Truman Brewery on 20 Jan 2016

Had a good night, I think that £20 might be a tad too expensive for what it is, at least one actual drink being included may have helped. Having never been to a beer festival I don't know quite what I was expecting. The Cider section was wicked. I think the food looked like an after thought unfortunately. Will definitely give it another go next year though Sara visited The Old Truman Brewery on 11 Jan 2016

Another great year of craft beer rising with improvements year on year. Great selection of beer from a range of small and larger breweries and international beer too. The Old Truman Brewery venue works well. Adam visited The Old Truman Brewery on 23 Feb 2016

Enjoyed talking to the brewers and there were lots of small ones - a big difference to most beer festivals (talking that is). Visited with my wheelchair user wife and the venue staff were excellent. Enjoyed the food offering too. If I was being picky (and an old git!) it didn't really need music in the beer area and the aisles could have done with being a bit wider. Plus a few more tables and chairs! The mens toilets were a pain too but this is down to the venue which did add to the occasion. We will return! Good venue, friendly staff within the Brewers providing good info of their product. Good food. My friends and myself really enjoyed the day. 😊 Shame it had to end. Bring on next year. Richard visited The Old Truman Brewery on 26 Jan 2016

Very disappointing. For your £20 entry fee you get a glass and an advertising magazine that does not even list the drinks available. The organisers are cashing in on a trend and offering little in the way of benefit. The beer selection was vast, but many of the stalls were in no way "craft beers", large breweries (being ripped off as well with their stall fees) rather than giving tie newbies on the market a chance.

Excellent beer selection from a wide range of breweries. I was impressed that most booths had most of their beers available throughout the evening - many other festivals I have been to run out of beer samples after the first two hours. Great planning by everyone involved. Kevin visited The Old Truman Brewery on 22 Feb 2016

Excellent beer festival. 3rd time I've been now and it keeps getting better and better. Loads more breweries there this year and the cider space was a great addition. Will definitely be going next year. Elliot visited The Old Truman Brewery on 10 Feb 2016

Seems to be a well run event. Bit of a shame to see some of the big boys there, masquerading as craft brewers, but I suppose that is unavoidable. It seems that it probably was for the best that I was unable to get trade tickets, as many of the brewers I spoke to said that the trade session was so busy they found it very hard to find time to talk to anyone, which would have negated my reason for going. As it was, a very enjoyable and useful day.. Carl visited The Old Truman Brewery on 20 Jan 2016

SO. MUCH. FUN! What a great deal. So many beers to sample, too small a bladder. Learned a lot, tasted some great beers, ate some great food to tie me over, danced to some great music. AND managed to not lose my souvenir glass :) Will be back next year! Nadia visited The Old Truman Brewery on 17 Feb 2016

My friends and I had an excellent time trying a lot of beer during the Saturday PM Craft Beer Rising event! I definitely recommend it to others - and will do it again! It was a bit hard finding your way though - I wish there was an easier way to navigate the options of beers! Jeffree visited The Old Truman Brewery on 24 Feb 2016

This was our first visit and we enjoyed the event enormously. There was a great beer selection which was well priced as was the food available. We went to the talk on matching beers and food which was informative and fun-thanks for providing this in the evening as well as during the day. Our only comments for improvement would be to ensure the staff were better informed on where things were and that the toilets were checked and cleaned a bit more regularly otherwise a great experience. I've attended a few beer festivals in the past (such as Great British Beer Festival) and CBR was a solid improvement on many of these which usually have the same old british ale & lager etc. that you'll find in any pub. The beer was generally quite unique, and whilst it may not all have mass market appeal I didn't taste a single beer that I regretted. Fantastic food as well - a few different stalls were operating and I didn't have any issue with lines (no more then you'd expect for a packed venue in London). It'd be nice if the number of attendees was slightly more restrained as it was extremely busy, but again - it's London, so it's what you expect. I don't agree with Nick's 1 star review or comments at all and will definitely be going back next year! Robert visited The Old Truman Brewery on 18 Feb 2016

WOW, my first time attending CBR. I didn't know what to expect and this event blew my mind. If you are into craft beer scene this one is not to be missed. Already added to my calendar for next year. Great selection of venue too. Dawid visited The Old Truman Brewery on 30 Sep 2015

The beers were not to my taste, most were samey, gassy, over chilled and bland. I tried at most 2 beers that I'd have again. The food took far too long to be served but was good when it finally arrived. The venue is good and the music/atmosphere were good. Overall poor value, luckily I was in good company but would rather have been down the pub. Nick visited The Old Truman Brewery on 22 Jan 2016
