PIERRE NOVELLIE

Pierre Novellie is a stand-up comedian, writer, radio host and podcaster. He is co-host of The Frank Skinner Show on Absolute Radio, and has also appeared on The Mash Report, Stand Up Central Comedy Central and The Now Show on BBC Radio 4. He also co-hosts the hit podcast Budpod with his best pal and fellow hilarious smartarse Phil Wang. Unsurprisingly he has been picked as tour support for both Frank and Phil in recent years.

Pierre's potent brew of cynicism, intelligence, surrealism and scything wit have made him one of the most sought after acts on the circuit. He has been nominated for Chortle's Best Club Comic Award, while his latest show 'Why Can’t I Just Enjoy Things?' saw a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a place in the Top 20 best-reviewed comedy shows across the entire festival. Following an extended run at Soho Theatre, his first special, Quiet Ones, was distributed by US comedy label 800 Pound Gorilla Records and has amassed over 250,000 views online.

“Dawn of a major new talent.” Guardian

“Wry, confident observational comedy.” Sunday Times

TOM TOAL

Tom Toal is a comedian, writer and actor, hailing from the South East London town of Bexleyheath.

Since appearing in the prestigious Comedy Reserve with The Pleasance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe a decade ago Tom has gone on to become known as one of the finest storytellers on the circuit. He is an Amused Moose Best Comedy Show finalist for his solo Edinburgh Festival Fringe show, Prequel and later went on to be a hand-picked support act for Rob Brydon national tour.

One of Tom's major strengths is his ability to adapt to his audience. Having hosted a range of events from Post Rock Bands album launch to benefit nights for the Socialist Workers Party, Tom has no trouble changing his style to suit the audience, charming the pants off every kind of punter who sees him.

“Charmingly entertaining.” The Scotsman

"Touching addition to the Daniel Kitson-esque heart-on-sleeve comedy subgenre at the Edinburgh Fringe." The List

SHALAKA KURUP

Shalaka Kurup is an Indian immigrant and a big fan of living, laughing and loving. She's a doctor by education, a comedian by choice, and a user experience researcher by needing to pay the bills.

Notable experiences include getting a spot at the Comedy Store by beating the King Gong in March 2022 and being selected as part of the Pleasance Reserve for the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe

“Material with bite and naughtiness.” Chortle

AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:

BEN VAN DER VELDE

One of the quickest wits around and a much-loved compere, he always brings a jam-packed back of nonsense, silliness and wisecracks to every gig he hosts.

"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.”  Huffington Post
