COMEDIANS:

MICHAEL ODEWALE:

Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2019: Best Newcomer Nominee

Awards: BBC Radio New Comedy Award 2016 Finalist, Chortle Student Comedy Award 2016 Finalist

An exceptionally smart young man with something to say, Michael Odewale’s stand up covers everything from politics to pigeons. He began performing in 2014 while at university and was a finalist in both the Chortle Student Comedy Award and the BBC New Comedy Award.

A fresh new voice known for delivering sharp, slick and beautifully executed content, Odewale is set to take the comedy world by storm and has already performed at UK’s most famous venues, written for Radio 4 and performed on Chris Ramsay’s Stand Up Central (Comedy Central).

‘An engagingly sardonic wit’ – Chortle

FRED BARBER:

Fred Barber is a stand up comedian and comedy writer from London whose themes encompass dyspraxia, addiction, and social alienation. He was performed all over the UK and Los Angeles and has written for major entertainment networks including Channel 4, BBC 3, and YouTube Premium.

He's also devised, written and created a number of high-profile advertising campaigns across TV and other media for globally recognised brands including Toyota and Acne Studios.

'Very strong talent for writing' Jesse Armstrong: writer of peep show, the thick of it, and successsion

ALI WOODS:

Half-English, half-Scottish Londoner, Woods is an exciting new stand-up comedian on the UK circuit, having won Hackney Empire New Act of the Year 2020.

He has also appeared on BBC Radio 4, TalkRadio, TalkSport and hosts his own podcast All I Do Is Fail, as well as written on sketches for BBC Three.

TADIWA MAHLUNGE:

Tadiwa Mahlunge is one of comedy's most exciting new acts, already scoring a multitude of awards including winning London and Manchester King Gong in 2018 and 2020, Semifinalist of Amused Moose New Comedian of the Year in 2019 and 2020, winning The Blackout at Up The Creek 2020 and most recently winning Beat The Frog at The Frog and Bucket in February.

Not bad, after being told that he wasn't allowed to join the Comedy Society at Lancaster University because he 'did not represent the values of the society'.

Tadiwa has recently appeared on BBC 2's Funny Festival Live

We bought the bottomless brunch and comedy night. Food - a limited menu of 4 meals, one was not available (one I wanted). Very budget non nutritional food. Not great quality. Drink - limited drinks menu, again cheap drinks, couple of sweet cocktails, beer and Prosecco. Atmosphere - brunch was 18-25 year old drunk young women (literally not one male at brunch - except bar staff and security) dancing into their mobile phones creating TikTok videos in a night club setting. Comedians - funny, albeit a very short set. Staff - all very pleasant and friendly. Note - ticket says starts at 4pm and to arrive 30mins before. Just to be clear food and drink is available at that time, comedians don’t start until 6.30. Literally no need to get there 2.5hrs before unless you’re up for the above vibe. Reading the reviews - surprised that they had 7 and 12 comedians. We had just 4 and it was over in an hour. Which was disappointing. Not really my scene, we left and had a drink elsewhere and got back for the start of the comedy bit. Won’t be going back.
