Each talk will last around 20 minutes followed by an audience Q&A.
Featuring:
Kris Hallenga - Founder of CoppaFeel.
CoppaFeel! was founded in 2009 by Kristin Hallenga (on the right) and her twin sister Maren. Kris was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer at the age of 23. After finding a lump at 22, living abroad in China for 8 months and eventually visiting her doctor 3 times, Kris was told the news that she had incurable breast cancer. Kris was unaware that breast cancer could affect people in their twenties and knew very little about the disease. It struck her that there was very little information out there for young people, educating them about the disease, how they could be looking after themselves and informing them that breast cancer doesn’t just affect women over 50.
Lucy Rivers Bulkeley - First European woman to complete 4 Desert Grand Slam.
Lucy is the First European woman to complete the 4 Desert Grand slam (250km self supported across Atacama, Gobi, Sahara and Antarctica). She has 6 down, 1 to go in the 7 Summit challenge (climb highest peak on each continent). Once successful, she will be the only woman in the world to have completed 4 Desert grand slam and 7 summits.
Gail Muller - Appalachian Trail hiker with an inspiring story.
Gail's story is one of hope and determination to achieve wellness against the odds. She has overcome chronic, debilitating pain and the diagnosis of a wheelchair-bound life that took her to the brink of suicide, to this year hiking the circa 2200 mile-long Appalachian Trail, southbound, starting in June. It's an adventure that will take her 5 months of continuous walking through American forests and wilderness along the longest hiking-onlyfootpath in the world, and more people have successfully summited Everest than completed it in a southbound trajectory. Her story is inspiring, and perhaps the very definition of accepting wellness and rejecting sickness by decision.
