The games of romance, love and affection are treacherous in the modern quarters of the urban jungle. Sexuality and human bonds have been trivialised and monetised in order to fund the capitalist paradigm but who are we to judge fiery London at The Poetry Brothel?

Instead, we have been summoned to the heart of the decadent metropolis, to what used to be an actual brothel, to the flashy dreaminess of neon lights, to the sticky limbs of SOHO where we belong, to the fiery translucence of this spectacular venue: THE LIGHTS OF SOHO.

Come celebrate danger in love and sexuality. Come and release your inner whoredom through poetry, utopia and energetical transference. Want to explore your bond with fire? No better place or event this year.

Limited capacity.

Imagine beauty encapsulated in the literary expression of a powerful psyche. Imagine purchasing a portion of a poet's mental anatomy. Imagine being locked in a perfumed room with a spirit and a flesh of your own choosing, jaunting through the alleyways and corridors of an artist's consciousness. Imagine sexiness and poems dancing together like flames with the wind.

The Poetry Brothel is a unique and immersive poetry event that takes poetry away from classrooms, lecture halls and Ivory towers and places it in the lush, radiant and fiery interiors of a bordello. Based on the concept of the fin-de-siecle bordellos in New Orleans and Paris, many of which functioned as safe havens for fledgling, avant-garde artists, The Poetry Brothel presents a rotating cast of "poetry whores" each operating within a carefully constructed character. For a small fee, you can purchase a piece of the "whore's" poetical spirit and absorb yourself in the true nature of one-on-one poetry readings in back rooms and other secret and intimate spaces.

Went to this almost a week ago and only just come round. Wow. Profound, subversive, welcoming, exuberant and - yes - sexy, and and oh so different. A beguiling, diverse crew of poets deliver public and, er, private performances through the lens of an alter ego for max liberation. Great venue, and a great night in the company of highly talented people who are well into what they do. James visited The Lights of Soho on 27 May 2017

This was a brilliant and original evening - I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in hearing contemporary and original poetry in a unique setting- they hold these events all over town - so watch out for the next one - i shall certainly be going . Oh and by he way had a couple of old fashions at the bar - probably the best i have drunk outside of Manhattan. julian visited The Lights of Soho on 27 May 2017

Food for the soul. A night of the most wonderful surprises, raw emotion, a deep visceral energy. Un equalled entertainment, nothing could have bettered this in London on Saturday night. lanaturner visited The Lights of Soho on 27 May 2017
