What an amazing show. Wow! I believe in magic

The British Academy is a great venue and provided the atmosphere for a night of 'Victorian entertainment'. Rapid fire patter and prestidigitation. Sonic provided a humorous and entertaining evening that still has me scratching my head. Patrick visited 10-11 Carlton House Terrace on 27 Jan 2017

Sonic was captivating and the magic was impressive. Intimate show - great if you're looking for something a bit different. He interacts with the audience a lot which is good fun. Only downside would be the small variety of drinks on offer - for those that don't drink wine or beer it would be nice to have other alcoholic options. Really enjoyed the show! Very impressive! The audience is not big so you have a chance to sit really close and see all the magic very well. And you might be helping him as well as he interacts a lot with the audience. Barbora visited 10-11 Carlton House Terrace on 06 Jan 2017

Hi Barbora, we are glad you enjoyed the show. Yes we have a maximum of 4 rows of audience, which means that everyone is close to the magic, and has the opportunity to be part of it. Have a great week.

It was great, good entertainment. I bought the show tickets for my partner's birthday and he enjoyed it as well. Simple tricks but think about the work what is behind it and quite honestly I don't think i'd be able to do any of that anyway. Was afraid a bit after reading the negative comment but actually left amused and entertained after the show. Well done and would recommend! Jana visited 10-11 Carlton House Terrace on 23 Dec 2016

I thought the show was fantastic. Admittedly there was no technical hitch when I went. Sonic has a warm personality and the illusions are very good indeed. It is true that the traditional tricks have been given original twists - I have seen plenty of magic shows before. It was fun! Bravo!

Really disappointed with this event. Paid £40 each for premium tickets (front row with a tiny mince pie and a programme) for me and my wife, expecting to see some good quality close up magic and ended up seeing a really cheesy show of basic magic that you will have seen a thousand times before. Cups and balls? Cutting a rope in half? This was stuff that you would get in a basic kids magic set, not something you expect at a west end magic show. Plus Sonic was not a great magician, fluffing a few of the tricks including the one where he picked the wrong lady out of the audience to do a card trick with (my wife) so the card the presented her with at the end had another lady's signature on it (not that my wife let on to the audience at the time). Even the big finale Seance was lifted directly from a Derran Brown show that I went to about 10 years ago (and again done poorly). The whole thing just came across as very amateurish. Avoid. Dear Andy, We are sorry to hear that the show did not meet your expectations, and we never wish our audiences to feel disappointed. Due to a technical fault on the evening you attended, there was no theatrical lighting to accompany the show, which affected some of the routines and resulted in the sound feeling a little out of place. Given this, if you contact our team at magichourlondon@gmail.com, we can discuss some compensation. Regarding the Cups & Balls and the Rope routine you mentioned - these are classic effects performed at the turn of the century which date back to antiquity, which is why they are included in the show. In actual fact both routines have been updated with a twist that has fooled many magicians who have attended. Whilst a basic version might appear in a beginners magic set, the methods and secrets are completely different, and the sleight of hand takes years to perfect. The Seance portion of the act is also original to us and not lifted from Derren Brown's act in any way. Sorry you didn't appreciate the mince pie - it was a seasonal addition, and not normally included.

Entertaining, and if you like intimate, up-close magic, it's a good experience. We saw it in a drawing room of a Victorian building (Carlton Terrace off the Mall), which added to the atmosphere. It is a bit cheesy, but most of the tricks are quite impressive. Denise visited 10-11 Carlton House Terrace on 02 Dec 2016

Very entertaining, was sceptical as first but as soon as the show started my scepticism was lifted, a lot of audience participation which just adds to the mystery "how did he do that" he's no more than 1.5m away from the front row. The wine is £6.5 a glass and tastes very cheap. But the overpriced wine does not detract from it being a 5 star review d7enngalant visited 10-11 Carlton House Terrace on 18 Nov 2016

Really good, really entertaining. The tricks were spectacular! Would definitely recommend and if you'd like to be picked on during the show arrive early and get either the front row or the seats on the sides (i.e. seats that would be easy for the magician to get to). The visuals on the back row are also not as great and to see certain tricks you'd have to stand up Esha visited 10-11 Carlton House Terrace on 05 Aug 2016

It was good but a little disappointing, there wasn't much I hadn't seen before, Sonic definitely isn't my favourite magician, he seemed a bit fake and not funny at all, dull compared to other magicians I have seen but I guess its what you're into. It was fabulous. There was a trick that I've seen on TV many times. It's easy to dismiss magic on tv by suggesting it's edited. But when you witness it for yourself it's literally gobsmacking!! I could go on and write an essay on how much I enjoyed this great magic show. Trust me. Go and see it for yourself. Henry visited 10-11 Carlton House Terrace on 31 Jul 2016

Very entertaining!! We were in London for a short duration and a friend recommended the show. We loved Sonic, as he is simply brilliant. You keep guessing the entire evening and every act blows the mind. We even got a tiny souvenir. Highly recommended !! Ankita visited 10-11 Carlton House Terrace on 23 Jul 2016

Fantastic! We celebrated our anniversary at Sonic's The Magic Hour. His skills are spot on and totally entertaining and the logistics of the show at the Grand Royale are well orchestrated. See this Show! A great night out! Chris visited 10-11 Carlton House Terrace on 01 Jul 2016

Amazing venue and incredible entertaining. Pure magic in the perfect place of the Gran Royale hotel. So near to the magician Sonic that it nearly becomes a private show. Unforgettable! Guillermo visited 10-11 Carlton House Terrace on 10 Jun 2016

Started a little slow but quickly built to a very strong delivery, underwhelming (deliberately) with a pleasing air of authority, professionalism and cleverness. The room is not the best and the luck with seating could mean a terrific or a slightly disappointing evening. Sonic would do better to find a more suitable venue for what is an excellent performance. david visited 10-11 Carlton House Terrace on 03 Jun 2016

Thoroughly enjoyed the show, very atmospheric. Still trying to figure out the illusions. One criticism were the seating arrangements, we were at the end of a row and it was difficult to follow some of the magic taking place at the central table. Maybe semi-circle rows would work better.!! Carol visited 10-11 Carlton House Terrace on 27 May 2016

Excellent performance...just when you think you understand what's happening something comes along to blow your mind again. Only disappointment was the cocktail, but not enough to detract from the five stars. Still feeling amazed now 2 days later. Joanna visited 10-11 Carlton House Terrace on 20 May 2016
