Sitting opposite the Young Vic on The Cut, Flat Iron's Waterloo outpost is the tenth in a London empire built entirely on one idea: outstanding feather blade steak at a price that makes no sense for how good it is. The room takes its cues from Victorian butcher shops and chophouses, green and white tiled walls, reclaimed oak floors, warm lighting, foliage-lined outdoor tables on the pedestrianised stretch of The Cut, and the menu is similarly unfussy. Order the signature flat iron, add beef dripping chips and creamed spinach, keep an eye on the blackboard for specials, and finish with the complimentary Tahitian vanilla soft serve on your way out.
