Description
Bone Daddies in Soho delivers a punchy fusion of Japanese ramen culture and full‑throttle rock’n’roll attitude, creating the kind of lively, late‑night hangout that feels unmistakably Soho. First opened in 2012 by Australian chef Ross Shonhan - formerly of Zuma and Nobu - the restaurant set out to make top‑tier Japanese cooking accessible, fun and anything but formal. Expect queues, classic rock blaring, and steaming bowls of signature ramen built on seriously crafted broths that take hours to perfect. The brand’s mission to challenge perceptions of Japanese cuisine and champion local collaborators has been part of its DNA since day one.
Behind the scenes, Bone Daddies’ origins lie with founders Ross Shonhan and Demetri Tomazos, though the group is now led by managing director Steve Hill following their departures in 2020 and 2023 respectively. Their Soho outpost still reflects Shonhan’s rebellious approach to ramen, inspired by Japan’s ‘punk chefs’, and the team’s commitment to bold flavours, homemade noodles and that unmistakable rockabilly vibe.
With a 20‑hour pork bone broth often stealing the spotlight and dishes like the Tonkotsu and Tantanmen earning loyal fans, it’s little wonder the restaurant has grown into a London favourite while maintaining its rowdy, ramen‑obsessed soul.
