Description

Absurd Bird Soho looks to recreate the success of its sister branch in Spitalfield, serving up delicious Southern cuisine to Soho's many hungry crowds. With a team of expert mixologists, chefs and restaurateurs running the show, guests can expect a dazzling culinary experience, framed by amazing dishes and based in stunning surroundings.

The food menu showcases the fruits of a number of traditional Southern recipes. Alongside Corn Bread Pudding, Jalapeno Mac'N'Cheese, spiced Buffalo Wings and a delicately flavoured Spinach and Artichoke dip, the chef's sharpen the venue's edge, adding popcorn chicken served in a waffle cone and a selection of Southern wraps into the fold.

The Bar - Hidden out of sight in the Basement, you'll find yourself in a private Speakeasy with design inspirations from the South in all lines of sight. Rustic to the core, the venue is decorated as you'd expect. Large, wood panelled walls frame the space, while zinc topped tables, blue leather seats and yellow velvet banquettes help to give the area a distinctly rugged, disheveled-chic vibe. Work your way through the incredible cocktail list put together by the mixology masterminds at Soulshakers, featuring their own distilled Absurd Moonshine and a hefty collection of bourbon. Or try out their Absurd Lager, brewed by the guys over at Signature Brewery. Ideal for private functions, date nights, catch-up cocktails and other occasions.

Absurd Bird Soho - London Restaurant Review

Absurd Bird Soho - London Restaurant Review

Once upon a time, I was a very picky eater. So picky that my diet consisted of pot noodles, fried chicken and the odd peeled grape. 10 years later, my love for pot noodles has come to an end, but my love for chicken still remains. As for the grapes?...

Amazing food. Chicken wings were delicious and fresh! Chicken and waffles were mouthwateringly good! Service was mediocre. Was seated for 20-30 mins before having to go ask for table water and order. Food took about another 20-30 mins - we had a show to go to, so had to ask for all the food to come out at the same time. Even asking for the bill was difficult. It wasn't that busy. There was just one other table. Will definitely recommend the food, but the service needs to improve. visited Absurd Bird Soho on 19 Feb 2017

Pleasant experience and great cocktails but the buttermilk fried chicken was disappointing to be honest, it didn't taste seasoned in the slightest and we had to cover it with salt for some sort of flavour. The chicken itself seemed of good quality but the batter really needs to be seasoned! Buffalo wings were good though. I wouldn't return unless they improved on their buttermilk recipe. visited Absurd Bird Soho on 26 Jan 2017

Despite booking a week in advance for a 2 hour slot, we were told the restaurant was full and made to sit upstairs where the take away deliveries we're constantly going in and out leaving the door open to the 2 weather and then hurried out after 1.5 hours as they'd booked another table for then. The sides were very good but the chicken was poor quality, stringy and chewy, and fairly tasteless, very underseasoned. We were excited about trying Absurd Bird but now won't visit again, it was very disappointing visited Absurd Bird Soho on 14 Jan 2017

Great staff, great cocktails, but like other reviewers we felt the grief chicken was really bland. No flavour in the chicken or the breadcrumbs. Just needs some more seasoning in the recipe. Good luck. You're REALLY going to need it. Under-seasoned, lukewarm and if the bun can overpower the flavour of the chicken, something's really not right. visited Absurd Bird Soho on 25 Nov 2016

We had chicken and waffles with gravy, and it was perfect. The chicken and waffles were super crisp on the outside and the gravy was proper brown gravy, bot the white American style I expected. The only downsides were that the buttermilk wings had too much breading and the beach in Soho doesn't currently serve hot drinks,a and I was hanging out for a strong blackcoffee! Overall, great experience. Will be returning visited Absurd Bird Soho on 12 Nov 2016

Food was alright. Chicken was really nice - moist, soft and not at all tough. But the batter didn't have much flavour on the chicken and waffles. It could have done with much more seasoning. The waffles also didn't taste of anything and the gravy was not nice at all. The service was pretty poor. We booked, arrived at an empty restaurant and was given a booth right by the door. We asked to move to the empty booth next to it (the weather had just turned and I get really cold, especially as am pregnant) but was told "it's booked". We tried to explain to the waitress that they could just have the table given to us to the other guests, but she didn't understand it. What's worse was that no one sat at that booth by the time we'd left. So basically the meal was punctuated by the door opening and closing again and again. We ate the meal in a hurry and left as quickly as we could. visited Absurd Bird Soho on 04 Nov 2016

Food was great, will definitely return. Good deal on happy hour ! Despite this, was an enjoyable night. visited Absurd Bird Soho on 01 Nov 2016

I've had outstanding food and service at Absurd Bird before and this was my first time trying the Bottomless Brunch. They had run out of most items on the brunch menu by 13:30 and when we asked if we can order from the regular menu but pay extra for bottomless drinks, we were declined. We just ordered from the main menu and again they ran out of some items. And they couldn't make my espresso martini drink because they didn't have espresso. How can you serve brunch and not have most items and coffee??? On top of that, the server was not very apologetic at all. They managed to redeem themselves as the bartender gave us a free bottle of prosecco to make up for things hence the 3 star rating. But my suggestion is that if you are going to offer a bottomless brunch menu with set items, make sure you have enough of the items to last for the weekend! visited Absurd Bird Soho on 30 Oct 2016

Terrible service, the wings arrived stone cold, the mac and cheese was extremely bland as was the grilled chicken. Also, i could not finish my cocktail as it was such an odd taste. the only decent thing on the menu was the fried chicken and waffle. wasnt a fan of the peanut butter cheesecake either (and i LOVE peanut butter.) We arrived at the restaurant and they seated me and my partner on a table upstairs. We were then practically forced to move to a tiny table as another couple wanted our table (even though we had made reservations). I wouldnt recommend but if anyone does want to give this restaurant a go, i would stick to chicken and waffle, visited Absurd Bird Soho on 28 Oct 2016

I think they really need to work on the food, both in terms of quality and presentation, because there are a lot of chicken places in Soho now and there is nothing special about this place. For example, don't serve tough, dry chicken, don't double cook your fries, do serve smaller portions of coleslaw but make it taster (see: Dishoom for amazing coleslaw), be more generous with your sauces. visited Absurd Bird Soho on 28 Oct 2016

Food was really tasty! Probably the most authentic that I have tasted in London. Definitely go & check it out. Priced well. Service was so-so but I think it was only 1 server working. The food here is outstanding, they've made fried chicken as good as possible. However, the service is all over the place - the waitress clearly forgot part of our order, and then the wings turned up 10 minutes after finishing our other meals. To be fair they gave them on the house, but was a bit odd. visited Absurd Bird Soho on 26 Oct 2016

Service was rushed, felt like they wanted us out from us ordering drinks. We were booked in for 6pm and they had no ribs left by 6.15pm. We were also told we couldn't order corn despite it being on the menu. The chicken wasn't seasoned the favour was a sauce in a small pot that you would have a dip in. Would not recommend or return. visited Absurd Bird Soho on 24 Oct 2016

The spinach and artichoke dip along with the cocktails were delightful. Everyone else was not. The chicken wings were not properly cooked, which led us to thinking the Bao buns were not either, the macaroni cheese was very stodgy, and the sweet potato fries were stone cold. Its a shame as the menu looks great, but the food quality unfortunately was not which meant my friend and I leaving with slight food pangs in our stomach. visited Absurd Bird Soho on 17 Oct 2016

The chicken wings were extremely tasty - especially the BBQ Buffalo and Hot Sriracha! The blue cheese and hot dips were very good too and the fries went well with the wings. I visited the SoHo branch of Absurd Bird after eating at the Spitalfields branch. The restaurant was great. Friendly, speedy service and lovely drinks. Myself and my work colleagues had a fab night. If you love fried chicken, this is a must visit place. Just one teeny tiny gripe - the wings in the Spitalfields branch were so huge that between myself and my partner we struggled to eat 6 each along with a main. However we ended up under ordering at Soho as the wings were much smaller. Carrie-Ann visited Absurd Bird Soho on 21 Sep 2016

Hi Jemma. We are really sorry about the confusion with the deal from DMN booking. Being new opening, we are still learning the system and didn't activate the discounts on tills as it's just been launched on the day you arrived.
