Tavern

Description

Tavern is a modern British restaurant in Shoreditch from the team behind Restaurant St Barts, occupying the former site of Nest on Old Street. Led by head chef Kirsty Easterbrook, the restaurant takes a relaxed bistro-style approach, focusing on seasonal British produce and dishes cooked over fire. The space combines a lively counter dining area with two dining rooms, offering a flexible setting that works equally well for solo diners, small groups and larger gatherings.

The menu is designed around sharing and showcases contemporary British cooking with creative touches. Snacks and small plates include dishes such as smoked cod's roe served with oversized pork scratchings, cheese-filled choux buns and scallops paired with lobster and cobnut XO sauce. Larger plates feature ingredients sourced from across the British Isles, with options ranging from Cornish cod with cockles and laverbread to duck leg with pak choi and sunflower seed satay. A concise cocktail list complements the food, alongside a carefully considered wine selection.

With its bright interiors, approachable food and welcoming service, Tavern reflects the style of dining that has become increasingly popular in London: ingredient-led, informal and refined without being overly formal. It offers a contemporary take on British hospitality, making it a versatile choice for anything from casual drinks and snacks to a full evening meal.
