Born from a 2018 taco tour through the taquerias of Los Angeles and San Francisco’s Mission District, Taca Taco is the brainchild of founder Thorne, who returned to London determined to bridge the gap between California soul and British ingredients. The brand—a clever portmanteau of Tacos and California - evolved from a humble Deptford coffee shop pop-up into a nationwide DIY kit sensation during the pandemic, before cementing its reputation at the legendary Brockley Market. Following a solo research trip to Mexico to further refine his craft, Thorne transitioned Taca from a cult-favorite market stall to a permanent South East London fixture.

Now anchored on Peckham’s Rye Lane, the restaurant captures the high-energy spirit of a West Coast eatery combined with deep local roots. The menu is a celebration of California-style Mexican street food, famous for its six-hour slow-cooked Beef Birria, crispy quesatacos, and cult-favorite breakfast burritos. Under the leadership of Head Chef Tommy and a front-of-house team known for their infectious energy, the kitchen focuses on vibrant flavours and premium ingredients sourced from London’s best Mexican suppliers.
