Caractère is the first restaurant from chef Emily Roux, granddaughter and daughter of Le Gavroche's Michel and Michel Jr. Located in Notting Hill on the site of former bistro Bumpkin, the menu points to both Roux's French heritage and the Italian background of her husband and joint owner, Diego Ferrari.
Mixing French and Italian cuisine, it's a notable addition to a neighbourhood already renowned for its high-profile eateries, and the 2,500 square-foot restaurant has joined the likes of The Ledbury and Core by Clare Smyth.
