The Marlborough & Crisp Pizza

Description

The Marlborough in Mayfair is a beautifully restored Grade II-listed corner pub that marries traditional English charm with contemporary flair. Upstairs, the pub evokes a Victorian cosy vibe with its dark wood arches, polished mahogany joinery, marmoleum flooring, rich burgundy ceilings, and warm antique-style chandeliers. The downstairs basement transforms into an intimate pizzeria - exposed brick arches, deep red banquettes, candle-lit booths, and a rustic wine-cellar ambiance create an intimate yet lively setting.

The downstairs is home to Crisp Pizza, helmed by chef-owner Carl McCluskey - celebrated for his award-winning thin-and-crispy style - which has already earned cult status and Best Pizza Award mentions (at his previous Hammersmith outpost, which has now closed). With a purpose-built kitchen capable of producing up to 150 pizzas per hour, and a menu featuring New York and New Haven-style thin-crust pies, square “grandma” slices, bar pies, calzones, and indulgent desserts like Nutella calzone and affogato, it brings high-end artisanal pizza to central London.

The collaboration between McCluskey and the team behind Soho’s acclaimed Devonshire pub - founders Charlie Carroll, Ashley Palmer-Watts, and landlord Oisín Rogers - has brought a pub that not only serves perfectly poured Guinness and a curated list of ales and lagers, but also exceptional food.
