Description
Cavita in Marylebone is a warm, immersive celebration of Mexican heritage, crafted by chef‑owner Adriana Cavita. The interior feels intentionally lived‑in and personal: adobe‑style plastered walls, open asada grills, reclaimed granite tables, and over thirty antique or hand‑sourced pieces from Mexico - including murals by artist Ivan Salamanca. A ceiling garden softens the space, while the basement El Bar de Cavita adds an intimate, atmospheric bolthole dedicated to agave spirits (think top-quality mezcales, margaritas and Mexican street food).
The restaurant’s culinary identity is rooted in traditional Mexican techniques - open‑fire cooking, nixtamalised in‑house masa, and dishes inspired by regions from Mexico City to Oaxaca and the Yucatán. The menu moves between a raw bar of vibrant seafood, elevated street food favourites like tetelas and quesabirria, and larger sharing plates built around deeply layered moles. Cavita’s drinks programme is equally compelling, with a focus on mezcal, tequila, and house cocktails that draw Londoners as much as the food does.
As for Adriana Cavita herself, she brings world‑class pedigree: formative experience at El Bulli, Pujol, Nicos, and Aska, alongside deep research into regional Mexican cooking. Cavita, opened in 2022, is her first solo project - a culmination of family traditions, professional discipline, and a personal mission to present Mexican cuisine with integrity and warmth.
