Description
From the team behind renowned Gunpowder and Madame D's comes a third restaurant; Gul and Sepoy. Along with the other two venues, the new restaurant is also located in Spitalfields, on Commercial Street.
Spread over two floors, the new restaurant has space for 50 covers as well as being the first in the group to take table bookings. The cuisine focused on two aspects of Indian cooking; Gul is taken from the name for the King of Punjab's most famous courtesan and is inspired by the palaces of northwestern India. The second half of the menu, Sepoy, is inspired by southwestern India with an emphasis on cheaper cuts of meat and seafood.
The kitchen also focuses on head to tail cooking which uses all parts of an animal. Dishes range from roasted kid goat raan through to a potted pig's head served with blood masala. The venue also serves classic cocktails given an Indian twist.
