Set within a grand Georgian townhouse on Cromwell Place, The Lavery is one of South Kensington’s most elegant new dining rooms, housed in the former home and studio of celebrated artist Sir John Lavery. The space is light, lofty and quietly glamorous, blending original architectural details with a relaxed, lived‑in feel that makes it perfect for unhurried lunches or stylish evening meals after a museum visit. It’s refined without being intimidating, with a distinctly cultural energy that feels right at home in its surroundings.
The kitchen is led by Yohei Furuhashi, formerly of The River Café and Toklas, with creative direction from Martin Cohen, the mind behind Rochelle Canteen. Cooking here is Mediterranean‑leaning modern European, guided by seasonality and an ingredient‑first approach that favours restraint and confidence over embellishment. Expect beautifully judged pasta, vibrant vegetable dishes and thoughtfully cooked meat and fish, all designed to let exceptional produce shine.
Still in its early days, The Lavery has already caught the industry’s attention, featuring in the MICHELIN Guide and picking up a SquareMeal Silver Award.
