"A cha chaan teng (literally: tea restaurant) is commonly found in Greater China, particularly Hong Kong. They are known for eclectic and affordable menus, which include many dishes from Hong Kong cuisine".

Brought to London by Splendid Restaurants, and boasting a menu devised by TV chef Jeremy Pang, Cha Chaan Teng pays homage to retro Hong Kong dining, with an authentic dose of Chinese cuisine.

A basement restaurant with 170 covers, retro-luxe cocktail bar and "bao bar", Cha Chaan Teng is based on the casual cafe-diners in Hong Kong, with modern touches including marble top tables, urban Chinese art and booth seating.

Open for dinner and lunch, all of seven days a week, the menu at Cha Chaan Teng is that of 1950s and 1960s inspiration, and alongside classic plates like their crispy seabream or crispy duck; guests can also enjoy specially created Chinese tea-themed cocktails from their unique drinks menu.

The atmosphere at the restaurant was lovely. We had a mixture of the appetizers and mains. The portions were quite decent however did not like the pulled beef at all. Overall it was a fun night out. visited Cha Chaan Teng on 21 Oct 2016

Amazing! Great service, friendly staff. Incredible food and cocktails! Went for lots of small dishes (8 between the two of us) so we could try lots of things. The Bao buns are to die for!!! The kale pancakes are great. The peanut butter French toast is ever so naughty but ever so yummy. Thanks all for a great evening. We will definitely be back and recommend to others! visited Cha Chaan Teng on 21 Oct 2016

The food was thoroughly enjoyable and, as we had to get to the theatre, we appreciated how quickly it arrived! Happy Hour with amazing cocktails was an added bonus. We'll definitely be visiting again. visited Cha Chaan Teng on 20 Oct 2016

Our waiter Phillip was very attentive and personal and I had a lovely experience at Cha Chaan Teng. The food was delicious! The bao burgers are wonderful and the flash fried greens that Phillip recommended to go with the chicken were lovely. Thank you!! visited Cha Chaan Teng on 11 Oct 2016

Cool decor and great bar serving wicked cocktails. The food lived up to the promise of being unique. It's not traditional but that's the point of it, right? The macaroni soups are huge and pack of lot of flavours - and I mean that in the literal sense - there's so much going on. I didn't mind it but I just couldn't appreciate the fusion of macaroni, delicious brisket, spicy Latin-tasting meatballs and Asian vegetables. It was a confused dish to say the least. The highlight was the duck bao which was like a big pillowy peking pancake. What made the night was the awesome waiter we had. I didn't catch his name but he was covered in tattoos and was super helpful and genuinely interested in our feedback. He even helped choose a mystery cocktail which was perfect. I wouldn't rush back but I'm not into fusion menus. Luke visited Cha Chaan Teng on 28 Sep 2016

Good service & friendly staff. A nice vibe that I certainly enjoyed. The bar and drinks menu looked decent enough. Food on the other hand, was a bit of a hit and miss, not that I was seeking for authenticity only some flavour combos didn't really work, rooms for improvement on the dishes I would say. axelw visited Cha Chaan Teng on 29 Sep 2016

Dining at Cha Chaan Teng was a fun experience for a girly dinner. Service was good and the staff were friendly. We definitely enjoyed the starters more than the mains. Not authentically Chinese but that's not what you'd go for. I won't be rushing back but a good option if you're in the area. richaghai visited Cha Chaan Teng on 29 Sep 2016

Really cool venue. Food is fun, not to be taken too seriously in terms of authenticity. Cocktails were great. The crispy kale was a stand out dish for me. I'd go back again Vanessa visited Cha Chaan Teng on 17 Sep 2016

Good service, terrific cocktail bar, menu needs rethinking - dim sum-style dishes but in starter & main portions. Some of the flavour combinations didn't work at all - a subtle omelette-style main was served with a completely overpowering soy/spice vegetable mix. Hopefully after a bit of reflection this will be sorted out. Dave visited Cha Chaan Teng on 30 Aug 2016

Amazing new restaurant in London. Great staff, incredible food, vibrant decor. The lobster 'prawn' toast and the spare ribs were particularly epic. Cannot fault it and will be back very soon! Seanf81 visited Cha Chaan Teng on 23 Aug 2016

Great new urban restaurant with superb food and service. Loved the Bao buns and Crispy Duck Leg in particular as well as the Duck egg XO fried rice. Can't wait to go back and try more from the menu! Read more on my blog valleys2vauxhall Kirsty visited Cha Chaan Teng on 17 Aug 2016

Service was fantastic! A little bit disappointed with the food as it wasn't really chinese or hong kong. Got my hopes up a little when it was advertised as a hong kong style restaurant Lawrence visited Cha Chaan Teng on 17 Aug 2016
