White Post

Description

White Post opened at the end of August 2016. In terms of bars & cafés, we are so in the European sense- open ‘til late, serving great drinks & snacks- more of a bar, really. In terms of bars, we’re more of a traditional boozer: somewhere you can come and relax, have a drink, meet people, have a laugh with friends, book a private function… We’d dare to say we’re the friendliest bar in The Wick.

Us
WPC was started by Dan and Richard with a simple aim: to be a friendly, local bar. Not just that, we wanted to be a useful local bar. We’re not here to push an agenda or a design aesthetic on people: we’re here to join in and to help. We have created a flexible, creative space that functions as a local boozer, as a café, as a venue for meetings, workshops, parties, screenings, lectures and more. We’re lucky enough to have a large adjoining lobby space (The Foyer) that we can utilise for events. This means that at White Post, we can cater for any kind of event from a coffee meeting for 5 people, through to a corporate reception or drinks party for a couple of hundred guests.

Our offering
At White Post, we serve an artisan pie 7 mash menu provided to us by Pieminister of Bristol. Our coffee is from local roasting geniuses The Roasting Shed. We also serve delicious seasonal salads and artisan sausage rolls. We’re proud to serve the best house wine around: we have a short wine list that delivers tremendous value and some very punchy, moreish wines. We have draught lager and cider, rotating local craft pale ales and an exciting selection of recognisable beers and imported lagers in cans and bottles.

We also have a gorgeous line-up of spirits- 7 gins on offer, for example. More than this, we work with the very best local suppliers, so if you have a specific request for a private event, we can tailor our drinks offering to suit your needs.

Event catering
We work closely with some excellent local caterers to deliver great catering for private events. Please feel free to ask and we’ll come up with something great that’ll satisfy everyone’s needs.

The Bar
The bar has a bright, modern, industrial feel. Without getting too designer-y, we tried to give the place a bit of a 70s office vibe. This means there are lots of clean lines and lots of tables and lamps- great for meetings, or somewhere to sit at your laptop and stare out the window (we have lots of sockets for you lot with your chargers).

The bar features a hand-built, bespoke sound system from CPAudio that gives us crystal clear sound and plenty of headroom for DJs who like to be heard.
We also have custom upholstery and a beautiful collection of mature plants that give the place a cosy, welcoming atmosphere.
The bar has a commissioned tryptic by local illustrator Olivia Agass and our walls regularly feature work by local artists and photographers.

The terrace
Quite simply the only terrace in The Wick that is directly on the towpath. South-facing, it’s beautifully sunny- especially in the mornings. The terrace boasts flexible seating, tasteful lighting and its own speakers and DJ inputs- great for a Sunday afternoon party.

Getting here
Our terrace opens straight onto the busy canal towpath and we have street access from White Post Lane. We’re well connected to the local area with a handful of bus routes to central London and an Overground station 5 minutes’ walk away. Ten minutes’ walk through the Olympic Park will bring you to Stratford, which is served by the Underground, National and International Rail.
