EartH Hackney

Description

Earth Hackney was launched in 2018. Since then, EartH has rapidly become one of the most significant arts and events spaces in London. After spending more than 30 years hidden, a multi-million-pound restoration project has transformed this Art Deco gem to its former glory, while providing a cutting-edge twist that updates the space for the 21st century.

EartH comprises 3 main spaces. The largest is the Concert Hall, which is a 1200-capacity, multi-purpose events space, equipped with a world-class sound system and lighting rig. Above the Concert Hall lies the Theatre, which is a 750-capacity, tiered-seating venue, complete with original, jaw-dropping Art Deco features. Nestled between the Concert Hall and Theatre is a third space, EartH Bar & Kitchen. This flexible space is an ideal location for hosting breakfast, lunch, dinner, or break-out sessions. It's also perfect for hosting a smaller private event or party, and is complete with its own bar.

Shuk became our new food partners in November 2019, focusing on super fresh stuffed pitas and salads inspired by chef Mark Jankel’s childhood memories of the vibrant multicultural food markets of Tel Aviv.

Their baker, Arik, is dedicated to supplying Shuk with soft fluffy pita using the same techniques used in the Carmel and Tikva markets of Tel Aviv, while Shuk’s ingredient supplier Omer relentlessly travels the region sourcing the best tahini, freshly ground spices, date honey and amba that are the cornerstones of their larder.

Shuk will be open to the public from 17:30 to 21:30 on nights when there are events in EartH Kitchen and EartH Theatre.

Swing by for a cocktail and stuffed pita before an EartH show, or come up to our monthly EartH Jam sessions to get a flavour for what goes on here – it’s always evolving. Please note, Shuk is walk-ins only, no reservations.

We will be taking reservations for all bookings.

Please contact us to ask for more details.

EARTH KITCHEN

Seasonal cooking and modern interiors are the focus of this artsy restaurant.

Housed in Evolutionary arts Hackney, EartH Kitchen is a collaboration between Chris Gillard of the iconic St John restaurant and Auro Foxcroft, who founded Village Underground in Shoreditch. Set in the first-floor lobby of what was formerly the old Savoy Cinema, the restaurant has space for up to 150 diners, with large windows, a striking sculptured ceiling and old school wooden tables.

When it comes to food, think simple dishes using seasonal ingredients from breakfast through to dinner. Sink your teeth into pork and duck rillettes, braised squid and confit duck and buttermilk pancakes for brunch, before moving onto blood orange sorbet or cheese from Neal's Yard. Wash it all down with cocktails and European wines, with the bar headed up by Toni Castillo, who also worked at St John.

With an emphasis on music, there's a specialist programme featuring late night jazz sessions and label takeovers. It doesn't stop there though; the theatre space is a music hub, inviting everyone from live DJs to local acts and performers.

CONCERT HALL

The Concert Hall is a brand new, versatile, thoughtfully designed events space. Drawing on our years of corporate events experience, we have had our hand in the design process to bring you the best possible version of this vast room. There are brand-new facilities, equipment and an impressive maximum standing capacity of 1,200 – making it a stand-out choice for all manner of events in East London.

THEATRE

The theatre has a capacity of 650 seats, or 750 with a standing area. When we took over the building, the Theatre hadn’t been touched since it screened it’s final film in 1984 and we’ve retained all of its glorious, original features. Juxtaposed against this faded grandeur, the space is fitted out with state-of-the-art AV including a 360° L-ISA PA system and can play host to talks, conferences, AGMs, press launches and screenings.
