Cafe Kowloon

Description

Cafe Kowloon is a modern Cantonese restaurant and cocktail bar tucked beneath the railway arches in London Fields, bringing the energy of Hong Kong’s café culture to East London with a bold, nightlife-driven twist. Created by the team behind Bao and Wonton Charlie’s, the venue blends food, music and design to deliver an experience that sits somewhere between restaurant and late-night hangout.

Hidden behind a daytime noodle bar, the space opens out into a series of moody, neon-lit arches, where open kitchens, mirrored walls, and glowing cocktail bars create an immersive, almost clandestine atmosphere. Interiors draw on the intensity of Hong Kong dining culture, featuring stainless steel counters, curved leather booths and shared tables, while DJs, low lighting and a windowless layout give the venue a distinctly club-like feel.

The menu centres on modern Cantonese cooking inspired by the way Hong Kong eats and drinks, with a focus on bold flavours, snacks and sharing plates. Dishes rework familiar classics - such as prawn toast, char siu and turnip cake - alongside more playful, contemporary interpretations, while desserts and late-evening bites lean into indulgence and nostalgia. A strong cocktail programme sits at the heart of the experience, with inventive, often short-pour drinks and Asian-influenced flavours designed to complement the lively setting.
