Loved the M&W pop up in Charlotte Street, so very happy to have stumbled across the new location. Service attentive but not overbearing. Scotch Egg perfect, haggis poppers amazing. Good to see the 'butchers favourite' skirt steak on the menu, perfectly bloody. Looking forward to another visit, lots more on the menu to try. Best not to plan too much for the afternoon, other than a nap. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 17 Nov 2017

Hi, The food was great. I love the venison/beef burger split. Great concept and it worked really well. The service however wasn't great. We both asked for black pudding and only got one, neither of us asked for bacon yet we both received it and the server (not the waiter) seemed insistent a mistake had not been made so we just accepted it. In addition to this we were not provided any mustard (despite asking and even joking about it with the waiter) and then when we questioned the bill and asked not to pay service charge it was taken away, stripped of the bacon but not the service charge. For a second time we had to ask for it to be removed. Finally, when we questioned the service charge we suddenly found we were explaining our reason to two members of staff not one. Had to wait 15minutes for booking Requested high chair when booking - was confirmed by restaurant as requested.only 1 in restaurant and in use on arrival Much of our order was “run out”and orders had to be changed. Chateubriand overcooked in parts and only large size cuts available to order! Meaning more expensive.!! Delay in 2nd drinks order Minimal apology from management and reluctance to offer any complimentary guesture off the bill. Service charge taken off and our side orders! (We would not have paid the service charge regardless, as it is optional and i cannot see how that is a goodwill gesture!) However , waiting staff very accommodating and apologetic. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 12 Nov 2017

One of my favourite Scottish restaurants - food as always was really good and the staff in particular are great - very attentive and friendly. However, they said they didn't have my favourite Haggis Mac and Cheese but then the table next to us had it about 20 minutes later! visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 12 Nov 2017

Delicious venison steak (£30 for 250kg), chips soaked in beer were precisely that. Soggy and unpleasant!! Starters were all fabulous, and service was excellent. I know you're not going to like this, but despite quality/originality, service and location, our lunch without wine was still overpriced. £90 for two!! I'm not a cheap skate but £70/75 would have been about the right price. Just trying to be helpful with constructive feedback. It's a great place! Good luck! visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 13 Nov 2017

This was my second visit to Mac and Wild. The service was great both times and the bottomless drinks are awesome. You are topped up really regularly. While the food is nice, I feel like it could have a bit more of a wow factor. The pancakes were literally just pancakes and a banana and bit of cream in the middle. We had a large booking of 18 people. It was a collection of people who know what they like, and it was a family reunion so it was important to everyone that the dinner went smoothly. The organisation via email ranged between very efficient and quite challenging, but it really seemed to depend if they picked up your email the next day - otherwise I was left waiting a week or so (to be fair we did have a lot of questions etc). But when something wasn’t quite right they worked hard to make sure we were happy with what was going on. The actual evening itself was fantastic. Wine was ready for us, staff were attentive and friendly and everything we wanted was brought out swiftly. Any changes on the night were dealt with efficiently and with a smile - all you can ask for. We’d specifially like to mention two members of staff (we forgot to ask their names!) one was a black man with braids, and the other a young black woman with her hair up. They were fantastic. No one had anything negative to say at all. The food was delicious as well. Tender steaks all cooked perfectly (we could see why razor sharp steak knives weren’t necessary), the Mac and cheese made specifically for the child went down a treat (v cheesy!) and everyone specifically requested that I thank the chefs on the night as they were left pleased... and these were a party of Irish people who know their meat and mash! Honestly, no faults at all, apart from sometimes easier communication in the organisation front. Thanks Mac and Wild from the McIvor clan and the Maddison organiser. We visited on a Sunday for a voucher for unlimited booze and 1 brunch dish. Food was really good (and although we didn't pay for food the portions were large considering the price of the dishes). The place itself was nice and the host and waiters were all lovely. We had to ask a few times for top-ups but that wasn't much of a bother. Really enjoyed our meal - wonderfully attentive service and very accommodating for a large party. Food was delicious, although it would have been good to have been sent the up-to-date menu to order from beforehand, as I had a dish that was no longer on the menu and it was simply replaced with the most similar item on the menu. We would have liked to have been informed beforehand so we could have chose to change if wanted. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 04 Nov 2017

Great food - full of flavour and portion sizes perfect for what you would expect as well as being very reasonably priced. We had a Veni-Moo (definitely personally recommend) and two portions of Mussels - Onion Rings on the side were delightfully crispy and full of flavour. Desserts were a good size and very rich, but not to the point that you couldn't finish them! Lovely staff, not just table side but throughout the restaurant giving the venue a real atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back again! visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 31 Oct 2017

Food was really great! Very tasty, and the Scottish breakfast really reminded me of all the times I've visited Scotland...it was yummy! For a Bottomless Brunch, they were extremely alert with the topping up of the glasses, which made it a very fair deal over the 2 hours you have it for. They were event attentive with the 1 Bloody Mary that was on Bottomless option too, as thats obviously harder to re-fill. Would highly recommend for a breakfast/brunch spot! I would recommend booking as it was very busy when I went on Sunday! visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 29 Oct 2017

I honestly had such high hopes after seeing all the amazing reviews. However, when we got there they couldn't seem to find my booking and automatically assumed I booked incorrectly/the other location. Turns out they were wrong and didn't apologize. Then after we sat down they continuously rushed us to order. We were waiting for a friend to join halfway through the dinner and they came over 3 times saying we're only allowed the table for 2 hours so if she wants to eat she needs to order now. There were 5 EMPTY tables it's not like we were holding things up. I've worked in customer service before and so have all of my friends and we were just appalled. Considering we bought 5 ribeyes and 4 + bottles of wine. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 28 Oct 2017

Without doubt the best meal in it's price range that I have had. Would willingly have paid more - do not underestimate that statement as I am Scottish. Local beer from Alloa a pleasant surprise having grown up less than 5 miles away. The Venimoo burger was a joy and the selection of sides provided a delightful way to further raise my experience. I could become evangelical about this restaurant. - but fear that I may never get in if too many people realise what an absolute gem this place is visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 25 Oct 2017

My new favourite restaurant in London. The ambience is spot on - casual but not at all tacky with lots of dark wood and low lighting. The food was reasonably priced and quite simply divine - the chips were the best I've ever had. The playlist was one to behold - not too loud but as you sipped on your second lager you could subtly here Bruce Springsteen and Meat Loaf rifting in the background. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 25 Oct 2017

Service was awful. My partner’s main came with our staters. We then had to ask for main before she had finished her meal completely. Gave us the wrong wine. When we queried this he told us the other was sold out. It was not. We were brought a bottle when we refused their choice. Bill cane to £83, put in £90 cash. No Change given. We had to ask for it. Really nice place the food here is so good! The experience was really made perfect by our host, Louie, who was not only really attentive but also really informative. He knew the menu so well and when we asked about the roast really sold it to us. We had never had venison before which was the only meat on offer that day and he was really enthusiastic about the dish which really convinced us to try it! And we really did like it. The experience wouldn't have been the same without his helpfulness and it really makes a difference when someone is enthusiastic about what they have on offer. Would come again! Also would highly recommend this place for a roast as you get a HUGH serving of all different veg - there's nothing worse than when a roast offers "seasonal veg" and you end up with one carrot and a piece of cabbage. This was the perfect portion! Sophie visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 22 Oct 2017

Lovely ambience and setting. The burgers and truffle mac ‘n’ cheese were amazing. However, the salmon salad dish was not great where there were no broad beans or potatoes provided even though it was stated on the menu. Although this was taken off the bill, what was slightly annoying was the waitress denied that potatoes where meant to be on the dish and we had to check the menu before they admitted their error. Plus, it would have been nice if they proactively told us the error instead of waiting for us to raise it. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 21 Oct 2017

The risotto was under seasoned, there was no salt and pepper on the table - we had to borrow from the next table, one of the party asked for the Scottish Breakfast and was served the one for two people!!! Honestly it was dreadful! We were seated quickly, orders were taken within about 15 minutes & drinks order taken, we then waited another 40 minutes for food. When the food came it was sporadic at best. The mains & sides didn't arrive with the right person at the same time, 2 people were sharing a 400g chateaubriand, requested medium, it came rare in a cold serving dish & wasn't warm itself. They requested for it to be medium so it was taken back, no problem, their side of mash then came & had to sit waiting on the table for 10 minutes while the steak was cooked some more, when it came back, it was well to medium & the serving dish was still cold, about 10 minutes later their side dish of leeks came, & it was unimpressive to say the least. Not one of our party of 12 had hot food & a veni-burger was sent back as too rare. The staff were not friendly or helpful, they were hardly there at all we had to wait ages to actually see anyone & there was no acknowledgement of the hap-hazard food delivery or the delay in service. No body came to check if the food was OK, I personally had to dash off so had to leave cash with the party or I would have made a bigger point at the time, another member of the party left just after me went upstairs to pay on a card, her part of the bill was still left on the total bill! Needless to say the service charge wasn't paid. Mac & Wild had been recommended by a friend but I was thoroughly disappointed it was worst restaurant experience both service & foodwise I've had in London & the UK in probably the last 10 years. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 12 Oct 2017

Great food and atmosphere. If I was being hyper critical, I’d have hoped for some bigger venison chateaubriand cuts on the menu but I suppose it is just luck in terms of what they have in that day. Great wine list too visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 11 Oct 2017

HI I've eaten at Mac and Wild about 7 or 8 times and every time I have loved it and enjoyed taking new people who haven't been. Last night was a very sub par experience. It seemed that the kitchen was just not operating at all at certain times. The gap between ordering and starters was about 15/20 minutes which is not too bad in itself but then the gap between starters and main was 30 minutes. When mains were delivered it was only 2 of the 3 main courses and the third was delivered just as the my dinner guests, who had been already waited a while for mine to arrive, finished eating. At one point I looked across the restaurant (basement floor) and noticed that only 1 table on the entire floor had food. We genuinely wandered if the kitchen staff had left? There was then another extended wait for the deserts and then when they arrived one was wrong so that by the time the correct one was produced the other parties had finished. The staff did their best and were courteous but it just seemed that they were either rushed off their feet or they did not have an ordering system that worked. The food was at a good standard, the standard which has kept me coming back to the restaurant, but the service was quite simply terrible. The main and desert were removed from the bill but it was still very disappointing. It seemed there were just not enough staff in the front of house or in the kitchen. I really hope this was a one off as I love this place and would like to see it around for a great deal of time to come but my guests last night had never been before and although they enjoyed their meal they were extremely underwhelmed by the entire experience. One described it as being "very un-London" and I would have to agree. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 11 Oct 2017

I had arranged a dinner with my boss for 20:30 on the 4th October at the Fitzrovia restaurant. However upon arrival and ordering wine, we were informed by our waitress that not only our first choice but second choices were out of stock. We then proceeded to order our main course, rib-eye which again we were informed was now off the menu. Our waitress then offered the same size cut of chateubriand for £31. We asked to see the manageress and having asked why on a Wednesday night was everything running out she shrugged her shoulders. Having then asked about the chateubriand we were advised, no, the waitress was wrong and we couldn’t have the same size and had to have the sizes on display. At this point we walked out. The next day we promptly told our teams at one of the biggest employers in the local area to not go to this restaurant or consider taking any clients there either. Shambolic stock control, poor service and a rude, arrogant manageress, a perfect combination for failure. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 04 Oct 2017

"Bottomless" glasses weren't filled up for about 20-30 minutes of the 2 hours slot, not sure why we had to pay so much? Ordered banana pancakes but they were just blank pancakes with sliced banana on top. Cool setting but not worth the money :( visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 30 Sep 2017

We had previously eaten at the Devonshire Square restaurant and were really keen to try the "original" venue in Fitzrovia. The food again was wonderful, particularly the haggis pops! But sadly the atmosphere was lacking, and the service was slow and unorganised. We had brought some friends for their birthday and were a little disappointed with the whole experience. Gutted there wasn't Isle of Harris gin on the menu anymore either!!! visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 30 Sep 2017

We visited your restaurant yesterday. The service was excellent. The tartare wasn't very good - too chunky and soked in some mayo-like liquid. The veni-moo burger was great. The whole meal, was very expensive and actually I think I paid more than I should. Unless the service was included? We ordered 2 tartars, 2 veni-moo burgers, 2 times chips, one side salad, 3 beers and after the meal we ordered a scotch egg, a haggis pop and one more chips. However, I was told there was no more haggis pop so we exchanged it for another scotch egg. In the end we paid £104 (as if the after-meal order was added twice?) visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 30 Sep 2017

Food as always good with the exception of the pulled pork chips which personally don't fit the Scottish theme at all. Manager was very moody and didn't really help in any situation apart from being rude now and again with a fairly aggressive attitude I have been to Mac & Wild on a number of occasions which is why I think the meat is the best in London and of course the staff and the chef was good company with the obvious exception Always a pleasure but just sort the manager out not good visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 28 Sep 2017

prettt disappointing, I came with my partner for bottomless brunch. First of all they do not let you swap between your dtinks so choose wisely! Second of all, we got the scotched egg to start which was not as expected! the egg was so over done!! Then they were out of heaps of options. Which was unfortunate - I'm not a huge meat eater so there wasn't much to chose from. Went for the big breakfast and the eggs were so UNDER done they were almost inedible (unless you like raw egg whites) they have my partner a desert on the house as it was his birthday which absolutely made the meal. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 17 Sep 2017

Was recommended to me so booked dinner for myself and boyfriend last night. The restaurant felt quite brightly lit so the candles on table didnt really add anything. Great list of starters. Enjoyed haggis and venison tartar. I ordered a medium rare ribeye steak with charred leeks and chips. My boyfriend ordered the venison burger with chips. Later we were told there were no charred leeks so could it be replaced with salad (which was fine but nobody told us the steak came with salad anyway so we didnt really need to pay for another bowl of the same salad!) A different veg option would have been much better. When my steak arrived it was rare and cold to touch (including the fat) which was a real shame. Both bowls of chips had also been forgotten about. I think we had three different people serve us throughout our meal. Generally I wouldnt grumble about these points if the prices were a bit lower. Mac and Wilde are marketing themselves as a 'proper' restaurant not a quick service burger joint so we did expect (and pay for) better. I also had to wait behind 4 men in the queue for the toilets downstairs. Would prefer them not to be unisex To be honest, the tartan bowls, shooting pictures on the wall and faux metal stag heads feel more like a pastiche of a Scottish restaurant rather than truly authentic. Let the food, service and atmosphere do the talking and embody what your proposition is really about. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 16 Sep 2017

This is a difficult review to write as the evening was a contradictory experience. The positives were that the food was superb in all aspects. Some of the beast meat I have eaten in london for a long time and some great twists with the sides and starters. The wine was good and well selected and the whiskey flights great fun. The atmosphere was great. But. The service was absolutely awful. Our first waiter had absolutely no idea about the menu, the wines, the fish etc. He said there was no special fish and that all the wines we wanted were off, finally giving us an unlabelled bottle of indeterminate red. We managed to secure a different waiter and when we found someone who did know what he was talking about we got the fish, the wine we wanted and the guidance on the menu. Although this guy was massively over extended. This was probably the worst service I've experienced in london for many years but we somehow still had a great night with good food as we could laugh about it. But on a serious note, that really does need sorting as you can't run a business on great food alone. If we hadn't persisted with our wine and food choices the restaurant would have e have probably lost over £150 in revenue. I'm sure that can be sustained on a regular basis. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 14 Sep 2017

Great food, but the service was a parody of how not to provide service. We weren't offered drinks, the waiters were inattentive, food was late, cutlery arrived halfway through the mains, staff unenthusiastic, no attention given all night leaving us to have to call out or go find waiters... the list goes on. Shame as previously 3 or 4 times have been excellent. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 14 Sep 2017

Lovely restaurant and the food was excellent but simply not enough staff on. Staff were run ragged trying to keep up, which meant service was horribly slow and really long wait for drinks/errors being made over and over to the point at which we gave up. I didn't catch the waiters' names but they were very accommodating for our requests and really friendly but could do with an extra pair of hands. Again, long wait to get the bill at the end, which was wrong and needed amended and meant it took a long time to pay and vacate the table. I would go back because the food was so good but desperately need more staff and quicker service to match the food quality. visited Mac & Wild Fitzrovia on 10 Sep 2017

Food was great as usual - service, very unusually and unfortunately, left something to be desired eg chateaubriand asked for as med rare was taken down med well (whatever that is!), vodka tonic came already mixed with all tonic when drinker wanted more vodka than tonic, when that was pointed out , the staff member just floated away, we were offered pudding before we'd had our main course, and so it went on.
