Quietly confident and intentionally understated, 64 Goodge Street is a restaurant that rewards attention rather than demanding it. Tucked just off the bustle of Goodge Street, the dining room feels like a considered retreat. 

Part of the Woodhead Restaurant Group, 64 Goodge Street is led by Head Chef Stuart Andrew, whose cooking philosophy is best described as French cuisine seen from the outside. A founding member of the group since the opening of Portland in 2015, Andrew approaches classical French food with deep respect but no reverence for repetition. The result is a menu that feels both faithful and gently iconoclastic: familiar forms, re‑examined through a modern lens.

The cooking draws directly from the canonical texts of French cuisine, rich but restrained sauces, precise techniques, and a clear sense of hierarchy on the plate, while allowing intuition and restraint to guide each dish. The à la carte menu is rewritten daily, responding to seasonality and availability, and offered across both lunch and dinner. At lunch, guests are encouraged to settle in over three courses, while dinner leans into a more ceremonious pace, without ever losing its sense of ease. For early evening diners, a shorter set menu offers a refined but relaxed introduction to the kitchen’s style.

The room itself has been designed and built from scratch, and it shows. Comfort is prioritised without feeling indulgent: generous spacing, soft textures, and a quiet sense of order that allows the food to take centre stage. Service mirrors the room, assured, attentive and never intrusive, with the sense that nothing has been left to chance, even if it all appears effortless.

Downstairs, a private dining room extends the restaurant’s ethos into a more secluded setting. Seating up to twelve, it offers the same à la carte experience as the main dining room, with the added luxury of privacy and a dedicated front‑of‑house presence.
