Description

The Fourteenth Colonie brings fresh NYC vibes to Clerkenwell Road. Set to step in at the former site of Giant Robot, there’s talk of cocktails, pumpkin waffles and authentic Brooklyn vibes at this new eating and drinking destination.

It’s good for a munch during the day, with the aforementioned waffles, Nutella French toast, burgers and salads creating a tasty squad of options. They’re out to create a light, easy-going vibe in the day, which swiftly makes way for something more dark and broody at sundown.

The Fourteenth Colonie serves craft beers from both sides of the pond, cocktails, wines and a healthy whiskey selection, and is open seven days a week.

The Fourteenth Colonie has only been open about three weeks; so there is still time to sort out some of the problems! I am a local so want this to be really good. Went on Saturday for brunch. We moved tables because we were near the door and it was cold; the place was practically empty but even so the waitress had to check the bookings several times to make sure it was okay. We asked her about the specials; she said she didn't know and asked us to read the mirror near the bar - it was very hard to read. Another waitress came and told us the specials when we asked again. We order two cocktails - these were delicious and I couldn't fault them. The food, however, was not great. Two of us ordered the hash duck; one with a well done egg, one with a runny egg. When it arrived we asked which was which and the waitress said she didn't know and just put them down. She said "I thought they were mozzarella balls, not eggs, so don't ask me!?" We cut through them and they were done right, so that was okay. I order the mexican special; my eggs were overdone, the toast was very burnt and it was just not enjoyable. When we got the bill we had to send it back twice as there were two mistakes. Hopefully you guys can get on top of this and be awesome as I was very disappointed!
