Bánh Bánh

Description

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Coldharbour Lane, Bánh Bánh Brixton offers a serene escape designed as a single, immersive artwork. Reimagined by artist duo House of Baby, the restaurant’s interior effortlessly pairs the sleek lines of Vietnamese modernism with nostalgic warmth.

You're welcomed through a softly lit entrance guided by an illuminated pink-tiled Vietnamese shrine, leading into a main room defined by curved glass block walls, rich wood tones, and cool concrete. This striking material juxtaposition is softened by hand-painted frescoes of Vietnamese scenes, a folding screen, and unique ceramic sculptures depicting landscapes, making the entire venue feel like a canvas where art and dining beautifully intersect.

The soul of the restaurant lies in its menu, which centres around cơm nhà (home rice) and family-style eating with a focus on mẹt - comforting, shared platters that highlight home-cooking traditions from across Vietnam.

You can graze on textures of soft steamed rice cakes, chewy tapioca dumplings, and crispy fried rice, alongside richer main dishes like caramelised catfish, braised pork belly, and sugarcane wraps. To complement the meal, the drinks list celebrates the flavours of Southeast Asia with creations like the refreshing Tamarind Fizz, accompanied by a curated selection of beers and wines sourced from the local Vining Street Wine Club.
