Description

Often find yourself longing for those glory days when Grange Hill was all over the TV guide, when Freddo’s were a cool 10p and when it was perfectly acceptable to wear trainers that flashed on every stride?

The Schoolhouse is this perfect throwback to your school days and so much more. It’s a nostalgic playground for adults; a themed bar and restaurant with all kinds of retro memorabilia to take you back in time. The venue serves food all day - mostly served on classic school trays - and you can tuck into everything from the Headmaster’s Breakfast to the Schoolhouse Beef Rib, with a monthly boozy brunch event and a tuck shop of lighter snacks.

The booze game? Well that’s strong too. The Schoolhouse has a confiscated selection of over 60 craft beers, a naughty wine list and a science lab of weird and wonderful cocktails served in all kinds of quirky vessels.

I organised a group of 60 people for Christmas dinner at The Schoolhouse in early December and I cannot praise this venue and staff high enough. The food was delicious and Matt and his staff were amazing in the pre-planing and then on the night dealing with such a s large group. All of my guests told me how much they enjoyed the dinner and the venue and I would definitely go back. visited The Schoolhouse on 03 Dec 2016

Excellent bottomless brunch at The Schoolhouse. Our waitress was lovely (didn't get her name unfortunately) and explained the offer really well to us. Avo & poached eggs are ten a penny these days, but the feta, bacon and pomegranate took it to another level - and can't argue with the quality of the poachies. Top tunes as ever! Good food and great menu choices, Our waitress was too busy had to ask every time for her to bring water and top ups- she has too many large tables to manage. Service was good, just not frequent. Good bloody marys. felt quiet hectic. Really good fun though on the whole.

Food was amazing. Love that the menu offers different dishes to the usual, especially for brunch. However the music was a little too loud which caused it to be really noisy with everyone trying to speak above the music. visited The Schoolhouse on 22 Jan 2017

I booked a table for 22 December having seen the Christmas menu on the website. However when we arrived the Christmas menu was not provided and when I asked the waitress told me that it had to be pre-booked. This was very disappointing three days before Christmas and was certainly not made clear on the website along the menu. visited The Schoolhouse on 22 Dec 2016

I recently came here with a group of work friends to celebrate Christmas and we had a great time. Bottomless brunch was really bottomless. Prosecco bottles were left on our table and replaced as soon as we had finished them. The food was absolutely delicious (we even went back the next day just to eat!) I would highly recommend this place. I will definitely be going back. Emily visited The Schoolhouse on 17 Dec 2016

I had a birthday party there for the bottomless brunch, there were 10 of us in the group. The Schoolhouse had a great atmosphere as it was very busy when we arrived, however the staff were still very attentive and took our orders once we had all arrived, and the food came out relatively quickly as well. The food was so well priced and really really good! All of us commented on how good the food was afterwards. The staff never hurried us or made us feel that we had a time limit (eve though we did, it was very relaxed!) And they were more than happy to refill the prosecco when required. One of our party was pregnant and even though she had to pay the same amount as we did which I did feel was a little unfair (I do however understand the reasons why) she was allowed to order pretty much any drink off the menu she wanted so I think she still got value for money. Overall it was a fantastic afternoon which we all thoroughly enjoyed and I would absolutely recommend The Schoolhouse for bottomless brunch. I really didn't want to go somewhere central where it would be too busy, expensive, and hectic and I'm so glad I booked the Schoolhouse as it was just perfect for what I wanted. Thanks to Matt and he staff for making it so easy and fun! visited The Schoolhouse on 17 Dec 2016

After trawling the Internet, quite last minute, for a bottomless brunch that wasn't extortionate, came across The Schoolhouse after finding it on a London blog. I visited with 6 friends and I can honestly say it was a great experience from booking to (sadly) the last sip of prosecco. I had emailed with some special requests and Matt was happy to accomodate which put us at ease. We were given a great table and explained how the bottomless brunch deal, and told us we should war til the whole party arrives to get the most of our two hours!! The drinks were great - make your own Bellini/mimosa/kir royale or a plain prosecco. And also Bloody Mary's too! Only thing is you have to pay before, and anything additional you order on top you pay after. Worked fine for us. We all got the Headmasters big breakfast - it was great. Service was attentive throughout and they kept putting new bottles on the table. Really would recommend, had a great time and hope to visit again very soon. Thank you! visited The Schoolhouse on 11 Dec 2016

The food was good but we were here for a bottomless brunch and the first few bottles were extremely fizzy. Then all of a sudden they got suspiciously flat *comment moderated*. We asked for all future bottles to be opened at the table and they suddenly were fizzy again. Staff were nice and food was fine but the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth and wouldn't go back.

The setting is fun and nostalgic, the food and cocktails were great, just what the doctor ordered. However, the staff were not attentive. We were waiting for over 15-20 minutes for our order to be taken and when I did catch eye with a waitress she gestured she would be two minutes, then carried on serving other people! I had to eventually go up to the bar to ask for someone to take our order. I had a question about the bottomless brunch which our waiter didn't know the answer to, so off he went to find out and we were waiting even longer! Finally another waitress came over who seemed to know what was going on so she took our order. The same thing happened with the bill and we were left waiting a long time. The girl that served us was very friendly though. It would have been a great place for a relaxing Sunday brunch but unfortunately the staff also felt a little too 'relaxed' on the job..

Brilliant night at The School House last night for my friend's surprise birthday. Staff couldn't do enough for us (especially Alex) and even made us special cocktails and shots for the occassion. Massive thanks to Matt and Ella for having us. The cocktails were really impressive and reflect the school theme, and they have KONA beer in stock, which always goes down a treat for me. I've been disapointed with The Schoolhouse. The first time we went we were waiting for our food for such a long time whilst other tables came in, ordered and were served before us and none of the staff seemed to notice. When we complained we were told our food would be 5 more minutes but it was obvious that our order had been forgotten about. I was willing to give it another chance and tried again this weekend. We sat at the table for a long time before anyone gave us any menus and we eventually got them ourselves. When the food came it was average at best. Won't be going back.

We had a fantastic brunch at the Schoolhouse - everything about the place was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was well presented and very tasty - plus we had fun reminiscing about the old school toys that were used as decoration! Will definitely be recommending to others and hope to go back soon.

I was impressed with the schoolhouse. The service was good, the food was inventive and the cocktails really good. It's nice to go for dinner somewhere a bit different than a usual restaurant. The waiter was bigging up their brunch so maybe ill try that next time!

Went here yesterday for dinner. Really enjoyed it. The "theme" isn't tacky but quite cool and quirky. The cocktails were really really good. The waitress was telling us that the owner also runs bars, which would explain the amazing drinks. Food was pretty good value too. All in all, I'll def be back.

A great addition to the now booming St John's Hill street which has a number of pubs, bars and restaurant. Despite the theme of "school dinners" the food actually is really well done. The vegetarians of the group were impressed with the quality of their choices as well. Went again the next day for brunch and it was even better.
