The Duke of Sussex, Waterloo


The Duke of Sussex is a reflection of the needs of their local community.

Their food is simple and harks back to the days when the British Pub first came. It is inspired by the Alehouses & Taverns and the open fire cooking that were used at that time. They use the best fresh seasonal British produce they can find, through their carefully curated list of suppliers. Their signature spit roast chicken is brined, steamed and marinated to lock in the moisture and flavour before being roasted on their English charcoal spit. Their Hippo Inns cheese burger is made with grass-fed heritage breed dry aged beef mince and topped with Oggleshield cheese, made by the Montgomery family in Somerset. Their chickens are grown especially for them on Thirkelby Mill farm in Yorkshire by the Pollard family. They have exclusive use of their chickens that are grown to their exacting standards so you’ll never find one quite as delicious outside of their pubs! You can join them for a bite to eat from Monday – Friday all day from midday, Saturday brunch from 11am and Sunday for their roasting joints from the spit from midday.

They have a wonderful range of beers, a delicious and thoughtfully curated collection of wines, as well as seasonal cocktails perfect for their large outside beer garden. There is a large function room available upstairs for booking for family gatherings, parties and business meetings. With weekly quiz nights and live music they aim to have fun and laughter in their pub.
