Food and waiters were excellent but due to an over an hour wait for our lunch to be served we were still eating our desert when the table was due to be used by the next booking. So management tried to get us to move into the lounge to finish. If we had received our food earlier this would not of happened. I suggest you recommend to your customers when booking a table that they should take into account for the extremely long wait for their food to be served as to how long they may need their table. visited The Wood House on 19 Mar 2017

Whilst the food was nice the service was poor. We have been twice recently and both times found the service erratic and had to ask for drinks etc several times. It's a shame as it's a lovely place. visited The Wood House on 17 Mar 2017

The venue is great and the food was delicious. However, our food arrived after 1.5 hours of waiting and it was really hard to get the stuff's attention to order any drinks. Once we did order the drinks, we had to chase it twice and it finally arrived after 25 minutes. visited The Wood House on 04 Mar 2017

We sat near the fire exit. People kept pouring in and out and it was freezing. My mother had to put her coat on and the children had to move to the other side of the table. A lady on another table, a wheelchair user, had to move seat and put her coat on as did others on her table. You really need a clear sign for people that the door is only for disabled access or fire exit and not public thoroughfare. Your staff seemed to feel helpless about how to handle it. It really spoiled the meal and was very annoying. Our waitress was excellent but really there was little she could do to recover the experience of sitting in a freezing draught for the whole meal and not having anyone sort it out visited The Wood House on 12 Feb 2017

We all enjoyed our meal. The service was very good. Unfortunately, and the reason for awarding 4 stars, was that some of the potatoes were under cooked. Whilst we were offered more the time that would have taken would have meant one person eating alone. visited The Wood House on 28 Jan 2017

Really really poor experience- we prebooked and went for a sunday lunch and admittedly the waitress said it was busy when we arrived but we had to wait about an hour and a quarter before food came and when it arrived it was cold and the vegetables had clearly been reheated. The chicken was tasteless -really overpriced for what you get. Not once did the staff check on us to apologise it was taking a while etc. A massive disappointment the venue itself is lovely but it's not worth it. Definitely avoid on a sunday- they have crammed too many tables in and the kitchen can't cope. visited The Wood House on 08 Jan 2017

The fish and chips were nice but we would not visit again. There were 5 things in the main course menu, we waited over an hour for our food which we received because I went to the kitchens and fetched it myself! The children's meals were poor. Very disappointing on the last day of the hols! visited The Wood House on 02 Jan 2017

Architecturally this is one of the nicest pubs around. Previous experiences have been good but we came NYE. Service was friendly but slow. Starters were generally good although my whitebait turned up cold. Main course portions were very erractic. Burgers looked good but were undercooked to the extent that they might have still been walking around a field. Gammon was enormous but the duck looked insipid and very univiting (although actually tasted OK). Sorry to have to say that the whole experience was poor. If I was kind I could put it down to it being the end of a busy period but judging by other comments there is an issue in quality control and organisation. Hopefully this can be put right as the pub itself is lovely visited The Wood House on 31 Dec 2016

We were very pleased with this booking for 20 people. They managed to produce food of excellent quality and reasonable price and each of the dishes were delivered at the same time despite the large number in our party. visited The Wood House on 01 Jan 2017

This is the fourth time we've eaten in the Woodhouse and sadly on this occasion it wasn't as good as usual and both myself and my partner we're disappointed with our mains. I don't know if was a different chef or different supplier but we both had burgers which were no where near as good as usual. I did get in touch via instagram to Youngs Burger Shack but never heard back. I'm hoping this is just a blip and the food will be back to normal in the new year. visited The Wood House on 24 Dec 2016

This is a lovely pub and I have had many a good meal here, inc my mothers 70th birthday, however they struggled over Xmas lunch. Not enough waiting staff and those that were there were young and appeared inexperienced. The Buck's Fizz which came with the set meal was 90% orange juice in a wine glass as they ran out of flutes. Apart from food delivery to the tables, there was no real table service for drinks or extras. I got up on 3 separate occasions to make requests from staff. The food was reasonable but not of the quality we have previously had at the pub and not in keeping with the £80 price. On the positive side the staff were pleasant and friendly. There was at attempt to charge table service at 20% on top of the £80 set meal price which we queried as it was not included in the price details when making enquiries. This would have made the price nearly £100 each for a 4 course meal, with no drinks which I'm sure by anyone's judgement would be massively high. The Woodhouse is a great pub with good food and lovely atmosphere,..... but I won't go there again on Xmas Day. Overpriced and chaotic. justrachel8 visited The Wood House on 25 Dec 2016
