The food was good and reasonably priced although not entirely convinced about Mexican wine. visited The Sun of Camberwell on 16 Jun 2017

Our trip to our local pub was very disappointing for a third time. The food took an hour (despite it being half empty), and the quality of the food appears to have slowly decreased over the last 18 months. It's just not what it was when it re-launched 2-3 years ago. Very sad as we only live several doors away!. visited The Sun of Camberwell on 24 May 2017

Last Saturday we booked out the Parlour room for 18 adults for lunch and a kids party (8 x 1.5yr olds). This was the third time we booked the Parlour and had been really happy with the arrangement to date. The room is tucked away from the main bar and dining area so the kids don't bother other customers and we take our own toys for them to occupy themselves while we eat lunch. The experience has varied quite a bit from visit to visit, on our first party (Halloween 2016) we had to set up the tables and chairs ourselves to suit the 16 people but they agreed to do table service which was great because we had everything arrive at a similar time and the table was cleared afterwards. The second party (Christmas 2016) we were told we had to order separately from the bar, which wasn't ideal but not a big issue. Again we set the tables up ourselves. Last Saturday however we had to pay a £25 non-redeemable deposit to book the room. I was told this was standard policy, but clearly its not been in the past. I don't have an issue with establishments setting deposits for holding a room etc. but what I would expect for that fee (if you cant use it against your food/drink) would be at least a set-up dining table for the number of guests and table service. It was too late to find an alternative room when I was asked to pay the deposit, but unfortunately we will be picking an alternative venue next time as the arrangement last Saturday doesn't quite meet our expectations. The food as ever was lovely, so it is a shame. That said, I'm sure we'll continue to visit in smaller numbers where we can avail of the free services that come with the dining room i.e. a table and waiting staff! visited The Sun of Camberwell on 07 May 2017

Food was fantastic - although could have had more gravy and homemade Yorkshire puds. Unfortunately one of the waitresses was very rude and condescending to us - more interested in holding hands with her boyfriend over the counter than in customers. Other staff were lovely. Pub is a great space, especially on a sunny day. visited The Sun of Camberwell on 09 Apr 2017

In all my years (14) dining here it was by far the worse experience I have ever had. After booking a table for 8 we were presented with a table of 4 with 6 chairs. No apology or recompense aforwarded by management. We are seriously weighing up to return after this, we were treated like 2nd class citizens as oppose to the loyal paying customers that we are. visited The Sun of Camberwell on 31 Mar 2017

I had a brilliant birthday at the Sun - they were very accommodating and helpful. They comfortably fit in 20 people for lunch and reserved an area in the bar in the afternoon for people to stay for drinks. There was a great atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. The food was delicious and great value. I would definitely recommend it. visited The Sun of Camberwell on 04 Mar 2017

The food and wine was lovely. But, whilst our waitress was great and Woking extremely hard, our service was very slow. This is the second time I have eaten in the restaurant on a Wednesday night, which is quiz night and the restaurant seems chronically under staffed. The wait on both occasions was painful. visited The Sun of Camberwell on 08 Feb 2017

Sunday lunch is excellent especially if you book the restaurant. We would visit the bar more often if the seating wasn't so very uncomfortable, sitting on old lab stools is not an experience you want very often. visited The Sun of Camberwell on 04 Dec 2016
