This one-woman play explores the life and legacy of Marie Tussaud, who escaped the guillotine and survived the horrors of the French Revolution. She toured Britain for thirty three gruelling years with her travelling wax cabinet, bringing up her little boy,

fighting off competition against a background of fire, riot, shipwreck and betrayal. She personified persistence, fortitude and self-belief. She manipulated the public fascination with celebrity and created her own version of spin.

Written and performed by Judith Paris (London Road, Touch of Frost) and originally directed by Gillian Lynne (Cats, Phantom of The Opera), Madame Tussaud: Waxing Lyrical is in recognition of a most modern business woman, an immigrant and a single parent.

Rosemary Branch Theatre

The Rosemary Branch was once a Victorian music hall, and so theatre and performance are soaked into its beams and rafters. The legend goes that such greats as Charlie Chaplin, Marie Lloyd and many others performed here. The Rosemary Branch Theatre is managed by interactive performance company Unattended Items, who take over as residents from June 2016. Unattended Items is led by artistic directors Genevieve Taricco and Scarlett Plouviez Comnas, and you can see what else the transatlantic duo are up to at 2016 marked the 20 year anniversary of Cecilia Darker and Cleo Sylvestre as artistic directors of the theatre, who have now both decided to take a back seat in order to pursue New Adventures. Under their stewardship, the Rosie has blossomed – winning Best Fringe Theatre Award (2010) from Fringe Report, Best Neighbourhood Theatre Silver Award from Smooth FM, and Most Welcoming Theatre (2013 & 2016) from the Off West End Awards. They have worked tirelessly for two decades to provide an eclectic mix of entertainment, and to provide a safe and supportive place for all areas of emerging talent.

Judith is a wonderful storyteller. A moving performance and to boot, she wrote it as well! If you can see it, do, an unknown but powerful story with a recognisable name! keeleyhelen visited The Rosemary Branch on 08 Jul 2016

Remarkable acting by Judith Paris. A moving story and one that is not well known. The play lacked a little originality in the performance and direction but was very enjoyable non the less Peter visited The Rosemary Branch on 06 Jul 2016
