We visited The Owl and Pussycat for lunch on Sunday 6th August having made a booking previously by phone. When I booked I asked if a children's menu was on offer and I was told that there wasn't but that the roast dinners can be made as child portions. The pub was less than half full when we arrived and were told our table was upstairs. The table was great but it was a while before anyone approached us to take our order. When we made our order we asked about child portions of the Sunday roast and we were told that's not possible. I said I'd been told on the phone that this was possible and she went to check. We were then told it was. We were not asked if we wanted drinks and had to ask separately for these. When the food came it was mostly good, the gravy in particular was very tasty, as were the Yorkshire puddings (which is why I have rated our visit 1 star). However the roast beef was quite grissly, and my nephew's beef was very dry and tough - he couldn't chew it. The amount of vegetables we were given was disappointing, given that we were paying £16 each for a roast dinner. My sister's roast potatoes were basically solid and difficult to cut through! We were also surprised that Yorkshire puddings and gravy came as part of the meal as this was implied on the menu as having to pay for as an extra. When we asked about this we were not told they were part of the meal. Therefore we had to cancel our order of extras. All in all it wasn't a very successful lunch at the Owl and Pussycat, which was really dissappointing as I had heard good things about it, hence booking for my sister and family's visit to Shoreditch. If we hadn't had 2 very hungry and tired children with us we probably wouldve gone somewhere else. visited The Owl and Pussycat on 06 Aug 2017

Everything was great and we had a lovely time but the roast potatoes on all our roasts were like little rocks. They were really over done. visited The Owl and Pussycat on 21 May 2017

Lovely pub with an equally lovely atmosphere. Totally Shoreditch, this place is nicely quirky, rather rustic and suitably priced. Expect lovely old exposed beams, low ceilings, uneven walls and odd nooks and crannies. With it's own beer garden (for if you like the outdoors) and a great selection of beers. A really lovely place to have a relaxing pint, I just adore this old building and that they have left this in it's natural state. Although beware, it can get busy after work hours and on weekends in the evening. I haven't tried the food, so can't comment on this!

Really always rate this pub when I head over to Shoreditch. Beer garden can always get a bit tight in summer because it is a bit small, but really enjoy a drink there anyway as the review below says, it doesn't seem to get wild with Shoreditch idiots

Really honest and humble boozer that doesn't seem to have been too touched by the Shoreditch scuttle happening now! Fun little beer garden and just a nice place to hang after a day at work. Top trumps!
