The Sunday roast was good but a little overpriced for the amount of food. Would have expected it to be c£14, rather than c£17. If I'd got 3 slices of beef then I would have been happier. The lady serving on the bar had no idea what a white wine spritzer was! She was looking for it in the fridge. She had to ask a colleague and then tried to serve it in a champagne glass so had to talk her through. We ordered the same 2 drinks 3 times and every time the price was different..?! Generally a lovely pub with good food. Just would have expected a bit more given the prices. visited The Duke's Head Putney on 12 Feb 2017

We hired the Wolsey Room for a private party. The pre-event planning was simple and the event itself seamless. The staff serving us were really courteous and completely on the ball and the kitchen turned out 26 different delicious dinners simultaneously. The room itself has a lovely atmosphere and feels both special and relaxed. We couldn't fault it.. visited The Duke's Head Putney on 07 Jan 2017

Dining at The Duke's Head was a huge surprise. This is not pub food. This serious, amazing food that one would expect to find at twice the price in a great restaurant. The chef is working genuine wonders in the kitchen and the front of house team are just exceptionally nice and attentive. Brilliant place. visited The Duke's Head Putney on 07 Jan 2017

Hadn't been for about 30 years and was pleased to see that everything is exactly as it was back then, including the furniture and decor. Beautiful room. One hour after we ordered our food it arrived. It was delicious. Had to rush to eat it though, which made the experience mildly tense. The waiting staff were harassed and friendly. The clear impression given was that the kitchen was surprised by the arrival of so many customers and the management had failed to consider how many serving staff a busy dining room requires. visited The Duke's Head Putney on 02 Jan 2017

Seemed like the team gave our table away to a different group (as I gave my name and the lady said the party had already arrived and were at the table, which they weren't). I booked the Wolsey room for a large family dinner and I have to say, it was perfect. I sent food orders a week before and gave a time for everything to be served. I am visiting a friend and she booked us into this Thanksgiving dinner. Before she booked, however, she inquired about whether or not there would be a vegetarian option available. She was assured via email that there would be and so we booked in. It was clear at the meal that no such accommodations had been planned. My main course was steamed cabbage in gravy - there were no proteins in the dish. The food overall was quite good and I am confident that had the cook staff planned ahead there would have been a delicious vegetarian option. But ultimately what was provided was subpar. Please don't agree to providing vegetarian options if that's not in your catering plan - I was quite frustrated with my meal and that dampened the whole experience. visited The Duke's Head Putney on 24 Nov 2016

Well...i love this pub but after making a booking nearly a month in advance, i was called 10 mins before our table booking and told the kitchen wasn't functioning due to a ventilation issue. When we walked in, and saw there was a wedding taking place, that seemed to be a bit of a poor, very last minute excuse. We were then given a reccomendation of another pub nearby, which we went to and my wife got sick from a burger there. Thanks guy. visited The Duke's Head Putney on 22 Oct 2016

Food was ok. However, I was only informed that the Pork had sold out after I had already selected a wine to go with it. Also, the triple cooked chips were not even once cooked and were still raw inside - I sent them back to only be told that they had no more. Also, my girlfriend's potatoes were not roasted and were merely boiled and then put in the oven for a little bit. All in all - not very impressed. visited The Duke's Head Putney on 30 Oct 2016

Really poor experience. Booked a table for 8 people for my birthday. Had to wait 45 minutes for starters to come and 1 hour for mains to arrive. They forgot to tell us they had ran out of chips so served roast potatoes with battered fish, roast potatoes with sirloin steak and forgot to put any of the advertised sauces with the starter platters. The pepper sauce with the steak was missing the pepper. The staff were busy eating desserts behind the counter whilst we waited 40 mins for plates to be cleared after finishing. We really wanted desserts and coffee but couldn't bring ourselves to wait for longer. Has been a great place to go for food previously but has gone downhill horrendously. After all that an apology would have been great but they just waved off the issues as if they were normal putneyguy visited The Duke's Head Putney on 15 Aug 2016

Great service, food and view. Always felt looked after and happy that our needs were met. The waiters were friendly and approachable. Vibe was pleasant and bustly. Good presentation and quality hard to beat. Maybe only negative is that fish and chips could have been more nutritious ie more vegetables than mushy peas

A perfect example of a very bad service and staff. We ordered drinks, we asked for 5 pints of Stout and we were looking for recommendation, the waiter came back with 5 pints of light fizzy summer Ale, once we explained this was not what we asked for, he insisted that was an ale and we should , it took us 5 minutes of debates with the waiter to agree swapping at least 2 pints we ordered. in addition to other food, we also ordered 3 portions of fish and chips, the fish was good, however, the triple cooked chips where totally uncooked and inedible. Once the food was delivered to the table, nobody bothered to ask how the food was ok, therefore, once the waiter came to collect the plates, I told him that we could not eat the chips as they were not cooked. The answer from the waiter was:‘ I can see if I can get you a pint of beer for free’, since the dinner was finished I explained him, I wasn’t going to drink any more beer. No compensation offered, after ruining 3 people’s meal and no apologies provided either! During dessert, It was getting cold in the room, I asked to 2 different waitresses if it was ok for me to close the 3 windows in the rooms, the said yes no problem please go ahead! Really?!? Do you prefer let your customers leave their table while having dinner instead of close it yourself? I asked the name of the manager to a waitress, after bringing some excuses that they didn’t have a card to write the details on, I managed to get a name (not contact details just a name...) and I was recommended to look on the website for contacts! Thanks! Visiting the Duke’s Head was certainly an experience to remember, but one that I hope to repeat and would not wish upon anyone else. Decent food ruined by very bad and service

I had my 30th Birthday dinner and party in their 'Wolsey' function room. The lady I dealt with for all arrangements (Sofia) was great and really helpful when I had lots of questions - it was hassle and stress free. The venue was perfect for what I wanted and the food was delicious, even for a function of 30+ people. The staff on the night were initially a little slow on the uptake and we had to help get champagne glasses out etc but once things got started everyone was really helpful and friendly. The room was beautiful and perfect for a dinner party and evening drinks. alexs visited The Duke's Head Putney on 21 May 2016

Went for Sunday lunch. Nice pub with a great dinning area. Food was very good but service was shocking. Shown to the table and then 20 mins later I got up and went to the bar to get my own drinks. It didn't get any better. Plenty of staff but all looked very miserable and disinterested. Shocking attitude. Hope the management sees this review.
