The Grocer is a surprisingly sizeable and pleasingly charming Gastropub nestled in the heart of Spitalfields market.

The team behind The Grocer have put a lot of hard work into this venue leading up to its opening - and it shows. Boasting a beautiful, imposing, rustic wooden bar and a super-kitch beer garden terrace that's decked out with wooden pallets and soft-hued blue upholstery, The Grocer is a veritable palace of refreshment.

And its more than just a good looking venue, they know their booze too! The bar sports an enviable selection of ales, fine wines and premium spirits. Adding to their impressive drinks list, the chefs serve up a storm back in the kitchen, plating together a selection of hearty British gastro pub classics and traditional recipes; think perfectly grilled steaks and delectable burgers. A pleasant venue to unwind and watch the hours drift by in.

Such a lovely day to celebrate mother’s day. Lunch was fantastic & would highly recommend the restaurant on location alone. Lovely service and good price Thank you Visited The Grocer on 2018-03-11

Every time I dine at Grocer I am greeted by a friendly face. I have never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time to be seated or waited on. The staff at The Grocer are polite, well spoken and attentive. Nothing is ever too much bother for them, unlike a lot of the other restaurants in Spitalfields. I have taken a particular friend here on every lunch date that we have together and he loves it so much that he intends to take his clients too. thank you for always displaying such a fantastic service. The staff at The Grocer are fabulous and each of them a great find in this day! many thanks, P. Visited The Grocer on 2018-03-08

I sat for 20 mins before being approached by a waiter (it was empty), they brought the wrong meal for me, and although they said they had a children's menu it was actually smaller versions of main meals which wasn't really great for kids whose tastes are less sophisticated. Food was very nice as was ambience. The indifference of your staff left a lot to be desired. A shared platter of nachos starter arrived with no napkins or side plates or cutlery. Very messy to eat and had to ask for napkins. Main arrived with no cutlery. Had to collect ourselves. The staff tried to clear plates whilst we were still eating as one of our party of 3 had finished and looked at us as if we were in the wrong when we asked her to leave the plates until we had finished eating what was on our plates. Good food, bad service. Hard to get served and they had no idea that I had reserved a table. Visited The Grocer on 2018-02-01

Feedback from various members of my team following our Christmas meal: My dessert was inedible and some of the staff were quite rude. The men’s loos were flooded as well which is something they should have got sorted straight away given how many people were in the place. Apart from that it was great! I sent my main back as it was inedible. Service wasn’t good, I had to re-order drinks Service was slow. Flooding in the toilets resulted in queues to use them. My main was over-cooked but dessert was lovely! Visited The Grocer on 2017-12-06

Service was ok, two of our food orders had to be chased - fish and chips - which were over cooked when they did arrive! The mulled wine was very bitter and had to be retuned, but they were happy to exchange it for a glass of red wine instead. The burger was good, as was the veggie pie. Overall, pretty good. The food was ok but had better from there, we did have to ask for warmer food items and waited a while for a main always feels longer when you have a Hangry man accompanying you, but the Staff were attentive and cheery and it's a nice atmosphere so I was happy overall Visited The Grocer on 2017-12-10

Fantastic service, all waiting staff were very helpful and accommodating. The food was at a really high standard also and at a great price also. Thank you for helping me make my friends 30th special and memorable. Visited The Grocer on 2017-12-09

The service given by our two waitresses was very good and efficient. However, I was disappointed by the food, considering it was near Xmas! My soup was scorching hot and I had to ask for ice cubes to cool it down and to eat it. My Fish and Chips was passable but quite small. There were no extras, such as butter for the bread with the soup, or a bit of salad to go with the Fish and Chips, and I don't like mushy peas. Apart from the service, the food was very run of the mill and very similar to all the food chains I have eaten at. Visited The Grocer on 2017-12-06

This could of been great, but the food average and the tables crammed too close together. The music was stupidly loud so my friend and I had to shout at one another to be heard. Would not really recommend, might be better as a pop in lunch time venue rather than an evening one Visited The Grocer on 2017-12-08

The service was very good, and the food was delicious. The only discomfort we experienced is that it was a little bit cold with the doors opening and closing all the time. Visited The Grocer on 2017-12-08

A pleasant upbeat experience, though the ordinary menu is rather restricted, limited, and unimaginative. Additionally, the pastry in the pies was cooked too much and was hard to cut through. Visited The Grocer on 2017-12-06
