Description
Step into The Dove, Hammersmith’s beloved riverside gem where history, charm, and great times flow as freely as the Thames itself. For centuries, this iconic pub has been at the heart of London life, serving up frothy pints, delicious food, and an atmosphere that’s as rich as its story.
Perched right on the river, The Dove is perfect for riverside dining, lazy afternoons with a cocktail, or an evening of fine wine and hearty laughs. Our chef, Francis Crane, and team create menus brimming with the finest seasonal ingredients—dishes that are as fresh and vibrant as the view from our terrace.
Booking is recommended, though our riverside seats are first-come, first-served—after all, the British weather loves a surprise! Sip a Fuller's cask ale, sample a guest beer, or enjoy one of our classic cocktails while soaking up the historic surroundings. Our wine list is equally impressive, with exclusive finds from passionate growers, alongside a selection of soft drinks, teas, and coffees to keep everyone happy.
The Dove isn’t just a pub—it’s a slice of London history. Since the seventeenth century, this little riverside haven has seen poets pen iconic verses, kings woo legendary mistresses, and novelists sneak it into literature (check out A P Herbert’s cheeky nod in The Water Gypsies). Regency writers whispered, pre-Raphaelites debated, and in more recent decades, actors, writers, and politicians have all passed through our doors. Take a peek above the lower bar’s fireplace—the framed list of patrons is a true “Who’s Who” of the last hundred years!
Even the building itself has its quirks. Spot the tiny side room by the bar? It once held the Guinness World Record for the smallest bar in the world. And check out the brass plaque marking the 1928 flood—history literally under your feet!
But The Dove isn’t just about looking back—it’s very much alive today. Fullers has been proud to call it home since 1796, and locals (and visitors!) keep coming back for the same reasons as Charles II: outstanding ales, fine wines, mouth-watering food, and a riverside spot like no other.
Come for the history, stay for the pint—The Dove is London life at its most delightful.
