As DesignMyNight's resident herbivore, of course I was going to jump at the opportunity to head to the capital's first 100% vegan pub. For too long I've stared wistfully at classic British boozers and felt a longing for less meat-heavy stodge and more meals I can actually feast on. To make the deal even…
The Spread Eagle
London's first vegan pub might be revolutionary in concept but it's traditional in appearance. The Spread Eagle in Homerton has all the hallmarks of a quirky East London boozer, from its royal blue bar through to a fauna filled beer garden.
Located moments from the overground, the pub is mixing things up when it comes to grub. Club Mexicana, originally a pop-up, cooks a fiery and flavoursome vegan list, with bites that range from loaded nachos and beer battered tofish through to burgers and a popular brunch menu. Hearty bites site alongside fully vegan beers on the taps and cocktails such as a coconut milk White Russian.
