The Angel Of Bow

Description

The Angel of Bow are a proudly independent, family-run pub in East London. They firmly believe in the importance of sharing great food and drink with friends and have worked hard to create a welcoming haven for people here in Bow.

They prepare 98% of their food in their on-site kitchen and they’re proud to support local businesses – their meat, fish, fruit and vegetables all come from within three miles. They keep it local with many of their craft beers too, featuring the best the local East London breweries (and distilleries for their spirits) have to offer. They also brew their own Angel of Bow session lager.

When they bought the pub, it was derelict and had a bad reputation. Their journey to get it to where it is today has been a labour of love. Thanks to the extensive bombing of East London during the Blitz in World War II, much of this area has been rebuilt. But Angel of Bow, built in 1938, was miraculously left standing at the end of the war and the building retains its wonderful character. With beautiful hanging baskets year-round and an established laurel hedge out front, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stumbled upon a lovely country pub slap bang in the middle of Bow.

After an intensive 8 months of refurbishment, they opened their doors in June 2017 having created a unique and welcoming space for people to enjoy each other’s company. The eclectic mix of furnishings and one-off furniture has been hand-picked, lovingly restored and upcycled to create a one-of-a-kind pub experience.

This eccentric style has recently been extended upstairs and they’re now proud to offer five stunning rooms in their boutique B&B. Their secluded garden area features magnificent murals by renowned street artist Paul Don Smith and offers visitors a chance to escape the surrounding bustle of East London.
