Description

Brought to Whitechapel by the renowned Geronimo pub group, the Leman Street Tavern is a fresh and attractive new pub perfect whether you're looking to dine, work or play.

A venue comprising of five distinctive areas, the Tavern exudes a contemporary feel with its mix of exposed concrete ceilings, metal pipeworks and mis-matched furniture. It’s open from breakfast right through until dinnertime, serving up a fab array of seasonal British dishes every step of the way. Highlights of the menu include slow-roasted quarter shoulder of lamb, smaller plates like the black pudding sausage roll and the freshest fish options this side of Billingsgate.

Just stopping by for a drink? Leman Street Tavern has you well catered for, with a lineup of 30 whiskies dominating one corner of the bar and a wine display counting up to 200 bottles in its ranks. There’s a strong choice of bitters, premium and craft beer on tap, too.

Relaxed and welcoming, The Tavern lends itself to hosting special occasions, with each of the pub's five areas - The Snug, Lounge Bar, Back Bar, The Pass and The Chambers - each available to host private meetings, parties and smaller wedding receptions.

I booked a table for lunch with work friends. We ordered three courses and all three courses were superb. Compliments to the chef. Waitress service was with a smile and they were accommodating and helpful throughout. We'll be eating here again. visited The Leman Street Tavern on 05 Jul 2017

The experience was a mixture really. We have waited for our food for almost an hour - there was clearly a mix up in the kitchen as people who arrived after us were finishing their meals before we even got ours. One person in our party had to leave as we were there on our lunch break and we took her food with us once it arrived, so she ate it in the office. The gentleman who was serving us was very apologetic and offered a round of drinks on the house and took some items off the final bill. Once the food arrived it was delicious, so at least this was not a disappointment. Over all - we would come back (hoping for the better service next time). visited The Leman Street Tavern on 07 Jul 2017

Limited menu and half of the main courses weren't available... on a Friday night. That included triple cut chips... if they couldn't cook those whilst we were waiting, I start to wonder if they were made on the premises. Terrible quality lemon sole which was just bones; crab rosti starter that was burnt to a crisp.... I could go on but the point is we would not go back there for dining. visited The Leman Street Tavern on 10 Feb 2017

I had pre booked for 14 people to celebrate my 40th birthday, unfortunately the service was extremely poor, we were basically ignored for large periods, even though it wasn't even that busy; we sat around waiting for drinks pre meal for 30 minutes then in between courses more waiting... Terrible. On top of the waiting around, two of the steaks we ordered were cold when served and as there were no spares, no replacement - though heaven only knows how long that would have taken. All in all, a thoughroughly overpriced and disappointing afternoon visited The Leman Street Tavern on 18 Dec 2016

Sorry guys but service was awful. I booked online and said it was my boyfriends birthday and asked if there was anything special you could do. No one replied and nothing was done on the night. You had around two other tables and plenty of staff but we constantly had to stand up and find a waiter. One of our meals did not come and the waiter didn't even apologise. We were charged for things we had not ordered and the waiter even hit me on the head with a plate when setting the food down. My carrots and parsnips were rock solid also. I won't be coming again. visited The Leman Street Tavern on 09 Jan 2017

Sunday roasts are always hard to beat at the Leman Street Tavern. However, the quality doesn't seem to be quite as high as it was when the venue first opened (perhaps there's been a change in chef). The serving was still quite generous, yet the quality of the meat and veg wasn't quite there. Still, a reliable option in this neighbourhood. visited The Leman Street Tavern on 01 Jan 2017

Very disappointed with the whole experience. Food was "so-so" & daughter sent back two of her courses as "stone cold". Service was slow - had to ask to clear table before setting down next course!! The quickset thing was the bill!! Shame as visited in summer & excellent but never again. visited The Leman Street Tavern on 25 Dec 2016

*UPDATE TO PRIOR REVIEW* I previously gave a 1-star review for Leman Street, based on a poor experience my colleagues and I had. I am updating this to reflect the seriousness with which the management took my complaint and the actions taken to resolve it. Whilst it is a pity that our night was a disappointment, I must commend Charlie in the booking/planning team for having dealt promptly with the complaint and ensuring that it was taken seriously by the bar and kitchen staff. Due to this, we will give the bar another chance. I hope the local management act on Charlie's feedback, as second chances are a rarity in the City! visited The Leman Street Tavern on 08 Dec 2016

We went for a Christmas party. The booking and planning process was efficient, however unfortunately that is were the positive comments end. The platters were horrible, and dramatically overpriced. The bar service was slow and the beer taps were a roulette (kegs mixed up and many taps were off). Whilst the interior is nice, we will not be returning. visited The Leman Street Tavern on 08 Dec 2016

Very disappointing, service was very bad. We were a party of 12 and had pre ordered our food. Starter and main were served in good time. The sausage and mash main course had hardly any mash potato and when we asked for more they didn't bring it up Also no condiments on the table and when asked were given a tiny dish of ketchup and mayo to serve 4 people. The waiter appeared purplexed when we asked for more. After main course dessert hadn't arrived after 1 hour and after 3 reminders was given a number of ridiculous excuses as to why it was taking so long. We couldnt wait any longer so asked for the bill and refused to pay the service charge. visited The Leman Street Tavern on 08 Dec 2016

The décor and effort put into decorations was great- the Christmas hats were a great touch. The food was delicious- my team were so pleased with it. And the choice of meals for each course was really impressive. It was all so well organised and we were well taken care of. The whole experience exceeded everyone's expectations and I'm sure we'll be back in different sized groups! I would recommend Leman's to anyone. I always try to give constructive feedback so the only thing I would say is to make sure that extras such as potatoes and veg are distributed well between all tables. Minor really- there was lots of food altogether! visited The Leman Street Tavern on 01 Dec 2016

The bottomless prosecco brunch drew us in, because who doesn't love the idea of bottomless bubbles? We loved the decor, atmosphere and music. The staff was friendly and fun and made the experience better than it should have been. The prosecco was tasty and coffees were very very good, but the food left quite a lot to be desired. The omelets were brown and crunchy on the outside, dry on the inside and came with no toast, potatoes or fruit. No breakfast sides of any kind were listed on the menu, but toast was available on request. The price was low enough and the staff so kind that we decided not to complain. However, a quick review on how to properly prepare an omelet would do the cook a great deal of good and a little something to round out the dishes would make the experience feel like a better value. visited The Leman Street Tavern on 12 Nov 2016

OK - nice venue but there was a mix up with the food (pre-ordered) which came out very late and not exactly what was ordered (pieces of cold camenbert instead of a whole baked camenbert with dippers), we did get some compensation for this. We had the perfect private party at Leman Street on Wednesday. Prosecco on arrival, beautiful canapes and great attention to detail on the set up of the room. Service was great, and our waiter great fun. Food was great, wine pairings delicious, and we lavishly went on to have after dinner cocktails too. An all round premium experience. Thank you.
