Description

The Maple Leaf is a cosy sports led pub and grill in the heart of Covent Garden. As the name suggests it pays homage to all things Canada. Sporting memorabilia adorn the walls and include ice hockey sticks as well as canoe paddles, a moose head, a Mounty’s uniform, a totem pole and a life size wooden red Indian. Nothing left to chance!

The clientele, however, is thoroughly international, bound together by a common thread of affection for this very well known and well liked pub. It is spacious, comfortable and welcoming with a good bar to lean on complete with brass foot rail, standing room for the group imbiber and comfortable seats and tables around the walls and up at the back.

The selection of draught beers includes John Smiths, Kronenbourg, Molson, Fosters, Guinness and Guinness Extra Cold and Scrumpy Jack cider. Bottled beer abounds and includes some of Canada’s best - Moose head, Sleeman’s, Molson Canadian and Molson Canadian Ice.

There is a choice of 11 quick serve dishes for those in a hurry and includes Hudson Bay cod and chips, big country beef, ale pie and chicken carbonara all for a little over £5 average. There is a wide choice of snacks such as poutine – the classic Quebec dish of fries with melted cheese and gravy - and a house speciality of buffalo wings Canadian style with celery, carrots and blue cheese dressing. Chef’s specials adorn the blackboard and maintain the high standard’s of quality and value for money found at The Maple Leaf.

Several TV screens show Sky 1,2 3 and Sky Sport Extra. Most sports are shown here including live sports matches, and of course NHL (Ice Hockey).
