43 Clapton Road has been a lot of things in its time. From a 19th century Hackney institution, to a rough and ready Irish pub and a suave little bar and bistro. It's latest incarnation as The Elephant's Head is in fact a return to that original Hackney institution, but with some modern twists to keep the spirit alive. 

The menu offers original spins on classic dishes, such as their crispy cod cheeks with chips and mushy pea puree, or their reinventions of ham, egg and chips, toad-in-the-whole and the classic mixed grill. There's also an array of plant-based options, including mushroom pate, cauliflower steaks and a dairy-free chocolate cake for the sweet-toothed vegan.

On Sundays is when the pub really comes into its own, rolling out the big guns with its bottomless Sunday roasts, with the meat or nut roast of your choice, complete with bottomless trimmings and gravy. Taking the roast from a casual hangover cure, to a full-blown weekend indulgence or brunch-like proportions, The Elephant's Head also offer a Bloody-Mary Sharer in a number of variations - the Bloody Mary (Vodka), the Bloody Maria (Tequila) and the Red Snapper (Gin). 

Not to miss out on the day-to-day tipples, the bar is stocked seven nights a week with a range of different beers, many sourced from local breweries, while the cocktail has been compiled by some of the best mixologists in the business, with a focus on 90's favourites like The Mitch Martini, and of course the Espresso Martini.
