Went for a Sunday roast with friends, it was amazing. Super delicious food (from an Italian point of view) and portions are huge. Must try the Forrest fruit crumble with vanilla custard... it's like heaven!!! I'll recommend it for sure :) visited The Windmill Clapham on 08 Jan 2017

Lovely venue. We went with our 5 and 2 year old (!). The staff were lovely but the beef on the Sunday roast was quite tough. As we have kids it would be nice if they had a play area for them but that may scare non parents away. :-) visited The Windmill Clapham on 01 Jan 2017

The atmosphere was good. The staff friendly but the food was not great. It was NYE so the restaurant was full but we were all a little disappointed with the meal. The steaks were all badly cooked - even when returned to the kitchen and represented. The fondant puddings lacked any fondant - and that was the same for all 10 of us that had them. Having said that we did have a good time overall and like the venue so would recommend. Just not on NYE! visited The Windmill Clapham on 31 Dec 2016

I had my first visit to The Windmill for a New Years Eve lunch. The pub really is a beautiful place but the staff and variety on the menu let it down. The staff were unfriendly and not helpful and the menu choice was burger, burger. fish and chips or burger. A bit of variety would have been nice! visited The Windmill Clapham on 31 Dec 2016

Good food, plenty of it and a nice atmosphere for Christmas Day lunch. Next year I would probably prefer to be in the conservatory as the "oldies" found the blue room a little noisy and claustrophobic when it was full. visited The Windmill Clapham on 25 Dec 2016

We had booked the Windmill for our annual Christmas dinner event and were all really looking forward to it. Up till arrival we were all very happy with the services, however, throughout our dinner we had seen 3 mice openly running around on the restaurant floor. As iam sure you are aware, this was very discomforting and makes the whole feeling about enjoying completely different; most of the night half of us spent looking around to see if the mice were running around near us. This also deeply questioned the hygiene element. Whilst we understand the restaurant and staff are aware of this, it was not very clear to us, and upon notifying one of the waitresses, we were given a lot of attitude and treated as if it was insignificant. Had we known there were mice running on the actual restaurant floor, we definitely would not have chosen this place for our Christmas dinner. We are very unsatisfied with our experience and would like to discuss compensation/partial refund for the lack of understanding and disruption during what was supposed to be an enjoyable event. Before we publically review windmill, I wanted to give you a chance to respond privately. visited The Windmill Clapham on 08 Dec 2016

Lovely food and setting but some of the staff were rude and harrassed us throughout the meal because some of our party were unavoidably late. We were well aware on booking that we only had the table for 2 hours but were reminded of this several more times in quite a hostile manner and made to feel judged and unwelcome. All of our party had every intention of, and did, finish our lunch in the allotted 2 hours, and it was not this rule but the attitude of the staff which left a sour taste for us. Yet another fantastic visit to the Windmill. Particularly enjoyed the welcome from the staff, the comfort of the bed, the breakfasts, the restaurant meal on the Friday evening and the band in the bar on the Saturday evening. The food was good and the restaurant area is very cost and with a great atmosphere but the waiting staff were totally uninterested in helping us whatsoever - our waitress left our table halfway through our drinks order twice! They threw the food down to us, never checked back to see if it was okay - we had to hunt them down for extra gravy and horseradish sauce, and began clearing the food before most of us had finished - all of which contributed to us feeling like we were a burden on them and not paying customers. Very rude. My parents who were visiting me in London noticed the bad service and told me they wouldn't come here again, which I was very disappointed in as I have always rated The Windmill very highly. visited The Windmill Clapham on 13 Nov 2016

The service was pleasant but sadly the food was slightly dissaponting. Two people had the buttermilk chicken burger which was presented badly and apparently tasted very garlicky and dry. I had the vegeatarin sweet potato gratin which didn't have any mushrooms as listed on the menu which was the part I was looking forward to! It was busy so we didn't complain as we didn't want to have to wait for more food to arrive as had limited time. Hopefully if we come again we will be impressed as we came here once before and loved it! Maybe it was a different chef on Saturday night than normal? visited The Windmill Clapham on 12 Nov 2016

Used Booking.com, and was allocated a spacious room with huge bed, and a very modern en-suite. Towels and bed linen were first class. Tea and coffee making easy to use, and fresh milk in the mini bar was a nice touch, as were the Border Biscuits. Next time we will ask for a room with a view, any view apart from a brick wall. The breakfasts were good value, with a continental buffet, and chef inspired hot options served at your table. We also had dinner one night, and had a lovely meal with hearty servings. If you want a romantic dinner, maybe book an early time (7.00) as the dining room got busy and quite noisy by 8.30. visited The Windmill Clapham on 10 Nov 2016

Overall we were dissatisfied with the service provided during our meal. In addition, when informed, the restaurant staff were ambivalent to the issues raised and our consequential refusal to pay the service charge. This was a shame as the food itself was delicious. The particular issues were (i) our starters arrived after our main, (ii) we had to go to your staff to get additional drinks and (ii) when serving staff repeatedly came to the end of our table and handed food and/or drinks with the expectation that we hand the items down the table. On the latter, the restaurant was not overly busy and the staff could easily have served people individually at their seats. We frequent this pub regularly but doubt we would bother returning to dine. visited The Windmill Clapham on 05 Nov 2016

Very nice setting and atmosphere. The food was also good with a wide selection (including vegetarian) and good sized portions and value for money. However the service was slow. In particular the time taken for the order to arrive was excessive and when it did arrive some of the food was only warm, suggesting it had been sitting on the pass for a period of time. Better knowledge of the wine list by the staff would also be recommended. But despite these issues I would recommend The Windmill. visited The Windmill Clapham on 03 Nov 2016

I though the food and overall experience were just about okay. The things that could have been better were portion size (certainly my chicken with pink fur, was like a child's portion) and the chips that came with other guests dishes were quite greasy. Also we were sat beneath the heating unit of the conservatory area of the restaurant and so the room temperature was either too hot when the unit was on or it got quite cold when the unit was off (as Wednesday was quite a cold evening). Also the (gents) loos next to the restaurant were no more than average, with what looked like leaky urinals and a large metal mop and bucket leaning against the hand-basin on full display, but obviously should not have been there. So over all a little disappointed as its the first time I've eaten inside The Windmill this year (normally outside at the weekend when the weather is good. visited The Windmill Clapham on 02 Nov 2016

Posted by a very fussy traveller. This is a great hotel absolutely nothing is too much trouble for the staff, our room had unique little touches making it interesting without being overpowering. There is ample wardrobe space for two people which is now sadly lacking in a lot of hotels. The room is spotlessly clean the restaurant has a great and varied menu. Lots of choice for breakfast A la carte or buffet, small niggle about brekkie only filter coffee available and we have to pay for americano, cappuccino etc. visited The Windmill Clapham on 31 Oct 2016

Whilst very tasty, the roast beef was very tough. Disappointingly so for my mother who had ordered it and was then unable to eat it. We resolved the problem by swapping her main, for my easier to chew veg wellington. The trimmings; yorkshire, veg and gravy, for both meals were exceptional. Squash soup starter was overpriced. visited The Windmill Clapham on 30 Oct 2016

We stayed two nights at The Windmill and found the accommodation very comfortable. We also dined in the restaurant on Friday evening and the food was very good. Our room was spacious, for London, clean and quiet. The breakfast was good with a choice of hot food if you required. The staff were polite and helpful. I would recommend this hotel situated in the middle of Clapham Common and very convenient for tubes and busses around London. visited The Windmill Clapham on 21 Oct 2016

Restaurant was clean and table was ready on time, and in a great position. The food was absolutely delicious as always. Our first waitress however really let the Windmill down. First of all when we asked for elderflower juice, she did not explain that you did not serve elderflower anymore, and instead gave 3 members of our party tonic water. Her general attitude was not warm and friendly, as all other staff were, and many times we had to get up from the table to get her attention (to get more water, or to request deserts etc). The waitress that took over at towards the end of the table was so lovely and thankfully everyone left with smiles on their faces. So overall a very good experience as it always is, but that one waitress really needs to find another job :-/ visited The Windmill Clapham on 16 Oct 2016

Food was decent (if not anything special), but the venue was crowded and loud. When we asked if we could have an extra chair for an additional person, the staff were extremely unhelpful, telling us every chair in the venue was already reserved. We then found a spare chair ourselves, 3 tables away in under 30 seconds. Poor customer service.. This is a once great venue that sadly is suffering under the weight of its own popularity. visited The Windmill Clapham on 09 Oct 2016

Six of us dined at The WIndmill. The setting is ambient, clean, very relaxing. The waitress was attentive, helped us with our different food requirements and made recommendations when we were stuck. A really lovely evening. Will be happy to come back again and again. sammyramiz visited The Windmill Clapham on 06 Sep 2016

Food was great. It was a Saturday night for my parents 45th Wedding anniversary, but it was so loud inside I think because it started raining so everyone moved inside and it was uncomfortably hot inside so my parents didn't enjoy the atmosphere as much as I was hoping. I might not book dinner on a Saturday night again, but the food and the servers were outstanding as always!!! mattieo visited The Windmill Clapham on 03 Sep 2016

Great place to finish a sunny day on the common, really nice food and wine menu and some great beers. The outside area can fill up quickly though on a sunny day so get down there early!
