The Calf

Description

The Calf in Clapham is an individual pub tucked away from the high street in the heart of the Old Town. Great food and wines, attentive staff and cozy interior make it perfect to unwind after work. What's it to be? A pint of the (un)usual? From Czech pilsners to German lagers, American craft beers to Britishcask ales (Cask Marque accredited, of course), The Calf has a specialty draught range to satisfy even the most fastidious of beer fans. The well-chosen wines are also anything but ordinary. Alongside these you'll find quality ciders plus spirits from some of the finest artisan distilleries in the world.

As for the homemade house tipples, you'll have to sample them for yourself. Spice your own Bloody Marys to help kick-start your Sunday (or any day), warm up with a special-recipe mulled wine when it's chilly, and cool down with the refreshing soft-drinks in summer. Needless to say, all of the drinks wash down a treat with The Calf's seasonal pub food menu.

At The Calf they believe in what they deliver; a menu based around familiar pub favourites with some seasonally inspired dishes to compliment any occasion. Try the handmade West Country beef burgers, hearty Ox cheek pie, wild salmon fishcakes or the delicious goats cheese and fig tart. At lunchtimes they offer a great selection of sandwiches and to complete any meal they have their indulgent black forest trifle, apple & rhubarb crumble or the salted caramel tart.

On Sundays they serve a delicious selection of roast dinners including classic roast beef with homemade Yorkshire pudding, Shropshire roast chicken, Norfolk pork and cashew, walnut & cheddar nut roast. For the perfect light accompaniment to their speciality beers or wines they also offer a range of regularly changing hot bar-snacks, such as; beer battered black pudding, whitebait, baked brie or scotch eggs, to name but a few. You'd be hard pushed to find a better place to soak up the Sunday vibe. Indeed, The Calf has all the essential ingredients for a fitting end to the week: glorious home-cooked roasts, rousing Bloody Marys and a few choice newspapers, all topped off with a liberal serving of chilled-out tunes. With a superior line-up of quality meats (plus a veggie option), Yorkshire puds, seasonal veg and lashings of gravy, the Sunday roasts have established quite a following in Clapham. Better still, they're served all day. Just add a round of top-drawer drinks , some good mates and maybe a board game if the mood takes you, and you'll wish every day was like Sunday at The Calf.
