Description

Unlike your typical London pub, everyday is a fresh opportunity to throw the best party ever at The Old Queen's Head in Angel. They've got the party set-up perfected down there; with live music or DJ sets every evening til the early hours and plush sofas and low tables to mingle amongst, the early evenings always have a lively buzz of pre-party excitement. This place gives most London clubs a run for their money on the amount of reckless shapes being thrown on the dancefloor.

The crowd are a bunch of trendy partiers, with an up-for-anything attitude, especially if that "anything" involves good music and affordable drinks in a friendly London pub. With many famous faces having graced their stage, including the talented Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals and even Ms Dynamite for a powerful performance, this is the place to scope out new talent as well as get up close and personal with other hedonistic youngsters.

While other public houses offer a quiet pub quiz, The Old Queen's Head see Sunday as the last chance to let loose before the week begins; The Sunday Social tops off the favourite Sunday business of roasts, Bloody Marys and boardgames with excellent live folk and bluegrass music. The Old Queens Head have been serving burgers by Lucky Chip since 2015 and my god they are something else. While their cocktail selection is impressive for a pub, if you fancy something different you only have to ask and the bartender will provide. Now that's service!

Private Karaoke Room (Capacity 15):

Available on Sundays & Mondays for FREE!

Between Tuesdays & Thursdays, the room is available to hire for just £20 per hour.

Rent the room out on Fridays & Saturdays for £150, which gets you 2 hours and two complimentary bottles of bubbly included!

A word from the chef:
The Old Queens Head kitchen is currently being bossed by burger extraordinaire and his team Lucky Chip. They've been bringing seriously incredible burgers to east London since 2006 and are now taking over Islington with their Kevin Bacon and El Chapo as well as monthly guest stars! You have seriously been missing out if you haven't got your hands on one yet.

I've been to the Old Queen's Head a few times now. It always has a hearty crowd and a busy bar. It's really close to Angel station too, it's only a couple of minutes walk. They have loads of seating and the atmosphere is super cosy.

Great pub and decent prices. The bar staff are super friendly. We did the pub quiz a few months back and it was crazy- def not your typical Q and A!

Amazing place to chill and relax with your mates. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and chilled night out. The prices weren't too bad and the staff were nice aswell.

This is one of my favourite places in London, the staff are friendly and the room upstairs is perfect for comedy nights. It's not the cheapest place ever, but it's certainly not that expensive and I look forward to returning soon.

I simply love the traditional but still contemporary design of this space! Staff very welcoming and good beers! Great both for a quiet beer in the afternoon, both for a late night out!

Their No Scrubs night is my favourite night in London, I've been a few times and it never disappoints! What makes this place so great is that it's unpretentious, chilled and just about good music and a good time. All the staff are friendly (never have a problem with the bouncers being rude or short with me). This place attracts people who are not showy or arrogant and it's just such a nice vibe. The DJ kills it with the music too!

Attended the Prince versus Bowie night as an Easter weekend treat. Had the best time! Vibrant, trendy, great people, atmosphere and tunes. This is my new favourite place to party. Danced my little socks off!

Really good night - make sure you get there at a decent time to avoid the queues outside! Upstairs tends to get really packed up but they put on some great nights!

Went here for a birthday Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and was not disappointed. I was able to reserve a table for 20 people with no hassle and though I though the downstairs interior looked dark from the pictures, in person it was great. On the day, the staff were fantastic. Everyone enjoyed there food which was full of flavor (especially the chicken) . Aside my party noting that the portions were too big (but all eaten so not a negative at all lol), and the only complaint was that and that the lamb was a little under cooked and so a bit chewy That aside, it was fantastic and I would recommend this place. Plus they let me bring in my own birthday cupcakes.

Visited on a Saturday night, lucky enough to have reserved an area. It's a mix of casual and dressy so whatever you want goes. The decor reflects the same with rustic wooden features and fancy lights and leather sofas. Good music and lots of events throughout the year.

Had an AMAZING time here on Monday, had the Karaoke room booked for a friends Birthday and this was the best way to beat the Moody Monday Blues. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive when explaining how the room worked and making sure we were looked after. There was also a comedy night going on at the same time, and the downstairs bar area was pretty busy for a Monday. Love this all rounder venue and the music nights always look worth going too, couldn't agree more with Dan91 below- 'favourite place to hit the floor in Islington'

Great selection of Karaoke and free private room on a Sunday- what more could one ask? Roast was decent too. Good atmosphere. Went here for a birthday and it was good to have food and entertainment in one place.

What an amazing pub with lovely and understanding staff! Understanding in the sense they let us sing (well butcher) several songs in their fantastic karaoke room for 6 hours, for free on Sunday! I seriously recommend karaoke at the Old Queens Head! It's got all the classics like Spandau Ballet (and even Arthur Brown!!) and some modern stuff too like Beyonce and erm wow Soulja Boy... This place is an absolute gem with its cute vintage decor and friendly staff, I plan to come here for my 21st, Hen Night and maybe even my funeral hahaha~

Found my new favourite place in Angel! Who knew?! Its like a cool DJ bar in a pub! It was pretty busy and packed (downside) but it was so much fun! Non pretentious dance all night place! Forget going to the pub for a quiet one :)

The old queens head has a really nice vibe and all the customers and staff are lovely. Only downside is you have to queue to get in on weekends and they occasionally seem reluctant to make cocktails.
