Join Kerrang! and The Royal Society of Arts for a s very special event focusing on black representation within the alternative music community. Hosted by presenter and podcaster Sophie K, the panel will feature MOBO Award nominated musician Kid Bookie, Decolonise Fest co-founder Alex Ekong and music journalist Laviea Thomas, discussing their experiences within the scene, how it's changing, and what needs to be done.  

About Sophie K

Sophie K is presenter of Kerrang Radio's breakfast, Absolute Radio Weekends, Amazon Music and her successful 'ON Wednesdays We Wear Black' podcast. Sophie has presented her own show Tube Screamer for the UK's most well known rock and metal channel Scuzz TV. She also has been cover presenter for the BBC Radio 1 Indie Show.

about Kid Bookie

Tryone Hill, known better by his stage name, Kid Bookie, is the raucous, genre-splicing standout charging for the frontline of rock and metal's next wave of fresh faces, lashing out riff-heavy anthems and getting his daily kicks from sending internet trolls into a frenzy. 

About Alex Ekong  

Decolonise Fest is an annual London-based volunteer=run, non-profit DIY punk festival collectively organised by and for punx of colour. Their collective is made up of activists, militant community organisers, musician's, and artists that came together to hold their first festival in 2017. 

About Laviea Thomas

Laviea Thomas is an experienced freelance music journalist based and culture writer based in London. With bylines across Clash Magazine, The Quietus, Gigwise and The Line of Best Fit, Laviea's work can been seen across: Download Festival, Louder, Gal-dem, Future PLC, Sludge, Gigslutz and Vulturehound.

RSA House has been home to the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce) and its 30,000 strong fellowship since 1774 as well as some of the greatest thinkers and social activists of the past 200 years. Some notable names of past and present fellows you might recognise include Charles Dickens, Dame Judi Dench, Sir David Attenborough and Professor Steven Hawking. The Coffee House is open to the public Mon-Fri from 8:30am. We host ticketed event throughout the house regularly and there is something for everyone. Everyone is welcome. T&Cs

1. The ticket holder voluntarily assumes all risks and danger incidental to the event for which the ticket is issued, whether occurring prior, during or after the event. The ticket holder voluntarily agrees that the management, venue, event participants, DesignMyNight WFL Media Ltd and all of their respective agents, officers, directors, owners and employers are expressly released by the ticket holder from any claims arising from such causes.
2. Tickets are issued subject to the rules and regulations of the venue.
3. Please check your tickets, as mistakes cannot always be rectified.
4. Occasionally, events are cancelled or postponed by the promoter, team, performer or venue for a variety of reasons. If the event is cancelled, please contact us for information on receiving a refund from the responsible party. If the event was moved or rescheduled, the venue or promoter may set refund limitations. It is your responsibility to ascertain the date and time of any rearranged event.
5. The venue reserves the right to refuse admission and may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.
6. Every effort to admit latecomers will be made at a suitable break in the event, but admission cannot always be guaranteed.
7. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase.
8. Tickets are sold subject to the venue or promoter's right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond its control without being obliged to refund monies or exchange tickets.
9. If this ticket is re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other than the promoter, venue management, DesignMyNight or one of their authorised sub-agents, it will become voidable and the holder may be
refused entry to or ejected from the venue.
10. The venue may operate a No Smoking Policy.
11. The promoter, venue management and DesignMyNight accept no responsibility for any personal property.
