4.9 star rating. Other than booking us two seperate tables for my group of 25 (which was easily rectified when we arrived), It was a GREAT night as always at Waxy's. My final birthday celebration in London could only happen in what I believe to be London's coolest pub! visited Waxy O'Connors London on 17 Jan 2017

This should have been a 5-star review. Waxy's is a beautiful venue, I'd have loved more time to look around all the nooks and crannies! The food was delicious and Fintan, the manager, couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. However, we had a few problems with the young member of bar-staff who took our order! He made mistakes in the actual order (which caused problems for the serving staff) and when he sent the wrong table number with the order he started swearing! 😳 We were totally not impressed, as you might imagine! This apart, we found the overall experience delightful and we will all be back again. Possibly on a Sunday for the seisiún! visited Waxy O'Connors London on 14 Jan 2017

I have visited Waxy's many times and it is a great pub, particularly if you are looking for space for big groups. I booked a table for 8 people for my birthday. The booking process was quick and easy and when I arrived the staff behind the bar were very helpful in taking us to our table. I informed a female member of staff that there were only 7 seats at our table and she just said that someone must have taken it and that there was nothing she could do. I appreciate it was a busy Friday night but her attitude was very disappointing. That was the only thing to let it down on this occasion. visited Waxy O'Connors London on 13 Jan 2017

We celebrated our work christmas party here and had a fabulous time. We were quite a large party (and slightly intoxicated by the time we arrived), but the staff were extremely helpful and very attentive to our needs all evening. Including any dietry requirments some of us had! The venue was beautiful and more than appropriate for a Christmas do with the fairy lights and all the little nooks and crannies. We were also seated on a top floor away from the other customers which made our event quite private which was lovely. The table was beautifully presented, the food was very tasty and everyones glasses were filled up at all times. We were made to feel very special! All in all we had an amazing time and would definitely consider it again next year! visited Waxy O'Connors London on 05 Dec 2016

Place was beautiful but service quite terrible. We were being walked around the bar for five minutes to find our table (we had a booking for ten) before the server eventually asked the manager where to put us. After another few minutes he eventually led us to our table. Then we weren't able to make a group order from the table and pay at the end of the meal. We had to all (ten of us) leave the table, come down to the bar and order and pay for everything at the start of the night - It was very annoying, especially as the group was so large. A tab was the simple answer yet the bar staff made no effort to do this or try to make things any easier. Bar a few, the staff were quite sharp with us with a big 'that's your problem, not mine' attitude. Yes it's a bar but it's also a restaurant serving food and we would have probably ordered more food and drink had there been table service. At one point, a vegetarian in the group asked the barstaff 'What's good for vegetarians?' and they replied 'There's nothing good for vegetarians here!' The food proceeded to come out in dribs and drabs so we were all eating at different times. We had to ask for knives and forks and there was no check on how we were, if we wanted more drink (again, we would have spent so much more had there been a bit more attention to us). I would only come here again for a drink but never for dinner because it simply wasn't a great dining experience, which is such a pity because it is such a lovely venue. visited Waxy O'Connors London on 12 Dec 2016

It took a while to find our reserved table. The venue is like a labyrinth. We were sent to the 'main bar' to ask where our table was. We were told it was 'upstairs'. Which upstairs, who knows. It took a while of searching the labyrinth to find out table which was near the front entrance. I later wanted to order a liquor coffee. Again, I was referred to the main bar where I waited whilst the bar tender served others and tried not to acknowledge my existence and then announced the coffee machine is not working and was not interested in offering any other options. The bartender at the first bar at the entrance was friendly and amiable. The pub was not very busy so we could have had better service overall. visited Waxy O'Connors London on 11 Dec 2016

Room reserved was not big enough for our 20 people booking yesterday. Staff were reluctant to help us, and quite rude. Used private area as a walk way, and when asked if they could go around, response was "how else am i supposed to get around" (when clearly they were being lazy, as there is another route to the table which was not very far away). Not good enough, and won't return with another group booking! visited Waxy O'Connors London on 08 Dec 2016

First visit and very disappointing, definitely quirky but totally lacking a real Irish welcome...don't think any of staff were Irish, no Irish music, the main courses were brought to table before starters & ordered 4 coffees & only 2 brought to table..had Pie & Champ..the Irish way is to make with Spring Onions, this was pure mash & when I mentioned to girl behind bar she said she thought 'champ' was just another name for mash..!!.this was supposed to be a birthday celebration but turned out to be a real embarrassment..!! How can you claim to give a warm Irish welcome...very, very disappointed..!!! visited Waxy O'Connors London on 06 Dec 2016

Waxy O'Connors was a great place, with just a couple of days until we planned to have a Christmas gathering they had capacity for 25 of us - almost in our own area but with enough atmosphere to still get the most out of being within Waxy O Connor's. What an absolute burn of unorganised jokers!! 8 mates from all over the UK were meeting for a reunion specifically to watch the semi-final of the rugby at this Waxy's place. Got there and no-one knew anything about it despite me calling twice to confirm and having an email confirmation which I showed the shift manager. He had no knowledge and said the rugby wasn't even on so the booth and screen we reserved didn't materialise!!??.They put it on a pull down screen but 2 bar guys didn't know how to use a Sky remote to turn the sound up or make it full screen!! PLAY IT SAFE AND BOOK ELSEWHERE - DO NOT ORGANISE ANYTHING AT THIS CIRCUS!! It only got 1 star due to a cracking pint of Guiness Markshelton visited Waxy O'Connors London on 23 Apr 2016

I have now held my monthly event on the 2nd Wednesday of the month for Feb, Mar & April 2016. On each occasion, not only the duty manager, but also the bar staff have all been fabulous. They have been a pleasure to deal with and I hope to continue with the event each month for many many more moons and maybe even years! If there was any negatives, the live music was deemed a little too loud, even tho we were well away from where they were performing. Other than that, top drawer! Really disapointed, booked a table for 13 girls for my sisters Hen party. Phoned the booking team to organise, then waited for my confirmation email. They had booked it for 12 even tho i was just on the phone to them! So i then had to phone back to correct it. Then everything was ok, until i recieved an email 3 weeks before stating a completley different day to what i had booked? I then phoned them again, and they had us booked in for the wrong day 3 weeks before the event! So i then had to make another phonecall. Then on the night, we turned up to the bar to be told by the barman that our table wasnt reserved until 6:45, when i had an email on my phone clearly stating that we had booked it from 6? When we were finally shown to our table, it was clearly not enough for 13 people, as we had to drag another table and some chairs over for some of the girls to sit!!! And always handy when they bring your food out and then make you wait 10 minutes for your knifes and forks! The food and the staff on the night were faultless, but the booking service is shocking, and really needs looking into! Cant believe i organised a whole hen do weekend full of activities for 13 girls and the only problem i experienced was a table booking at waxys?! So many mistakes, really disapointing. Brilliant venue to host a birthday party. Found staff really helpful before hand and on the night who made sure everything was setup and ready. Food was also excellent. One small gripe was the area I booked for 30 wasn't big enough, and although there were spill out areas, it did get very cramped at one point. Overall, a fantastic venue. The bar let me down by failing to reserve my tables for me and all my guests. I emailed numerous times before and then called up as no one replied to confirm I wasn't able to make it till 7.30 however when we arrived other people were sitting in our seats and the bar had the cheek to say we was late. A few people moved however a large group refused to leave as a barman said they could sit there. So it upset me however I refused to let it get me down on my birthday and ended up having a good night. jenbarratt visited Waxy O'Connors London on 21 Nov 2015

A west end pub worth keeping in mind when visitors come to town! The only underground pub I know in the city with an impressive bar and plenty of seating... if you don't visit at the weekends or after work as this place does tend to become very crowded. I prefer visiting during the week when the pub still keeps to its irish roots, they also serve decent food and is the one of the few places to serve Snakebite. At the weekend the place becomes a bit more rowdy and the music has been questionable on a few occasions. All in all a good place to head for a pint!
