Cuban Combination (24th April 2015)
The UK based band, 'Cuban Combination' are one of the most popular Latin dancing music bands around. Consisting of Cuban musicians who have learnt their skills in the shadows of the Sierra Maestra Mountains.
Their repertoire includes authentic and original compositions as well as some of the best known Cuban songs, including some from Buena Vista Social Club.
Roberto Pla (1st May 2015)
The Godfather of Latin music in the UK, and Colombian master percussionist. A special show for the dancers on one of London’s hottest dance floors. Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, in the 60’s Roberto studied music at the National University of Bogota, going on to tour Latin America and the States with Orquesta Lucho Bermudez, Colombia's leading big band, he recorded numerous albums and appeared weekly on Colombian TV. After session works in New York, he moved to London where he joined the jazz-fusion band Cayenne, and Latin-funkesters Gonzalez (World Tour).
Kandela Mi Son (8th May 2015)
Created by Ednar Piki Landar, from Santiago De Cuba where he previously he led 'Septeto Contemporaneo', one of the most energetic bands in the region. He travelled all around the world with his band and has done many residencies over the years in Floridita London. Now that he is living in the UK, Piki has chosen some of the finest Cuban musicians, including some of Septeto Contemporaneos previous members. 'Kandela mi Son' represents the best in traditional Cuban music.
Son Yambu (15th May 2015)
Son Yambu play authentic Cuban son - the essential Afro-Cuban sound that originated on the streets of eastern Cuba and gave rise to modern salsa. This music is an intoxicating fusion of Spanish and African rhythms and, coming from Santiago De Cuba (the birthplace of son), the band are passionate about maintaining the traditions of the genre.
Elpidio & Su Alegria Orchestra (22nd May 2015)
A renowned performer with the UK’s top latin bands for the last 15 years, Elpidio now explodes onto the salsa scene with his own Alegria Orchestra. Mixing together a rich lifetime of latin flavour, taking the swing from his hometown of Buenaventura, Colombia, and the rhythm of Cali, Colombia – ‘the capital of salsa’ - the tradition of Cuba and style of New York , Elpidio with his Orchestra delivers his own blend of infectious happiness to the dancefloor.
