Village Underground Rooftop

Description

Anyone who has ever walked down Great Eastern Street has looked up, stared at the graffiti-covered London Underground carriages precariously balanced on a railway viaduct, and asked the exact same question: Can I go inside those?

For nearly twenty years, the answer has been a firm 'not really', unless you happened to work there or score a rare Open House ticket. But this July, ahead of its monumental 20th anniversary next year, independent cultural powerhouse Village Underground is blowing the doors wide open.

The Village Underground Rooftop is a brand-new, 300-capacity open-air terrace launching right in the beating heart of Shoreditch. For the first time ever, the public is invited to climb aboard the legendary, recycled Jubilee line carriages to explore, drink, and socialise.

Complete with a fully stocked open-air bar, panoramic East London views, and legendary, crispy slices from the Bad Boy Pizza Society, it’s officially slated to be the ultimate sun-trap hangout of the summer.
