My friends and I were looking forward to a great evening out yesterday, but instead was received with hostility. We arrived around 10pm andwas told they could not let us in, as there were too many males already inside (Right!). To be honest why didn't they just be straight and say because we were all black, they would not allow us entry. As educated and respectful young men, who I have to say has never got in as much as an arguement in a club/bar before, I take this very personally and am extremely disappointed of how we were treated yesterday. Although we will never return to 'The Cornershop' we can as we still walked away with our heads high, due the manner that we conducted ourselves, towards your small minded security.

Friday night Music was very good, drinks pretty cheap, however people inside had no manners especially men including bouncers. First of all, bouncer next to the smoking area keep constantly making a queue next to it saying only on or two people are allowed to get in even though when we managed to get outside smoking area had only three people. Me and my other two friends been literally pushed away so we won't get in. From 23.00 pub was fully packed but ratio women vs men was ridicilious. You would hardly see any girls. Only tall aggressive men who kept on bumping into you or even pushing so they can get through you. Ladies toilets were in state. Paying £10 for the entry you would expect it to be bit better place..

Awful. I should have known from the minute I tried to reserve an area in this place, they staff were rude from this conversation not returning calls and then trying to up the reservation fee from £50 to £100. When we arrived, the bar was completely empty. No 'reserved' area. Two of our party (male and female) arrived minutes before 10pm. After 10pm there is a charge, the obnoxious door staff first refused entry as the male was wearing a cap (so cap removed) then made some fuss that the girl did not have correct ID, then lo and behold, it's past 10pm now you can come in for a fee!! What the hell?! Tried to reason with the most unpleasant door staff i've ever encountered. I can only feel pity for these people who take pleasure exercising their authority. Tried to speak to the managers, well what a joke. These guys were like dumb and dumber. I doubt very much they could manage anything. Their unwillingness to try and accommodate a large party of people who were spending a great deal of money in an otherwise empty bar was a joke. Unfortunately it was too late for us all to move to a venue that would accommodate us at such short notice. Furthermore, the person they refused to let in runs a small business a stones throw away and brings regular custom to the bar. Nice way to pay back and show local support and loyalty to the local community. I'm disgusted in the way in the which we were treated, no wonder there are so many repercussions. Vile place, vile staff/management.

Always my go to bar in shoreditch. If you like hiphop and rnb this is the place to go. The drinks are not too pricey, There's an upstairs area which is a little more commercial with its music and clientele. And then there's a basement area which is pretty lit, a little over crowed though, but the music is great. Would recommend if you're looking for a more urban scene. But closes at 2am which is a little too early sometimes. The dress code is casual, so wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a nightout where you're wearing heels ladies.

Comfortable, friendly and just the right side of quirky with quality booze. Skilled staff behind the bar and enough space that you're not all crammed in - a bunch of us grabbed a little table a couple bottles of wine here for drinks after a street food fest, and it was perfect. Casual enough that we didn't feel undedressed. Just had a nice vibe about it.

Great line ups! Amazingly comfortable and intimate, great decor for the bands they bring!

I really like this one. Because of its location in the very center of Shoreditch it's always busy but in a nice way because there are charming sofas and tables, plenty of space. You can stand outside too which is nice for people-watching and cooling off. Great place to go hang out with a larger group of friends when you don't want anything special, just a nice, welcoming and vibrant pub.
