Encounters with Shama and Alice. Two multi-instrumentalists come together with their respective bands to bring you an evening of original music. Expect to be taken on a journey of different musical worlds being celebrated and brought together.

SHAMA performs with her electro-acoustic band with live Sitar, uniquely taking it out of the traditional context, across genres including jazz, live electronics, psychaedelia, pop, afro latin worldbeats & Indian/Western melodies. Her music has been championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Songlines, Arts Desk and the BBC.
Her album 'Truth BeTold' is the first live album to be recorded throughout using the pioneering wearable technology 'mi.mu gloves' - famously publicised by Imogen Heap. Shama was the first artist-in-residence and along with only a handful of 'glovers' in the worldwide community, she uses the gloves to create sounds and FX by hand gestures. The recordings therefore have live electronic manipulation with improvising musicians including MOBO-winner Moses Boyd, capturing an electric live atmosphere with the polish of a studio album. This infectious energy is what is translated in her live shows with the electronic wizardry of 'Slowly Rolling Camera' producer Deri Roberts
Her multimedia performance of the album at the Southbank was featured on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch and most recently, she performed the album on an expedition as the first Sitarist in Antarctica as part of the first Antarctic Biennale - which made The Times and Radio 4's Front Row.
Fresh from a festival performance at BoomTown she has also played at the Bestival, London and Manchester Jazz Festivals, Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Wilderness, Green Man and extensively at international jazz, beats and world festivals.

Multi-instrumentalist and leader of an ethereal harp centric collective, with music influenced by folk from near and far, Irish to Chinese, Alice blends this with non traditional and blues infused melodies. Creating ambient, lilting, rhythmic harmonies with the harp allowing the bellowing husky vocals to be perfectly contrasted in a very unusual but beautiful way!
Alice composes from the harp and the violin, creating orchestral and choral peices reflecting on past and present experiences she has herself come across or witnessed from afar. After a sell out show for the release of her first record at the legendary Passing Clouds venue, she has taken London by storm playing at the National Portrait Gallery, Royal Academy of Arts, Union Chapel,, Ronnie Scott’s, Green Note, Cecil Sharp House to name but a few. This summer the band performed at Cambridge Folk festival, previous years they have appeared at Shambala, Wilderness, Secret Garden Party and Standon Calling. Record number two is soon to be with us as Alice and the band will be going into the studio in early 2019.
